On June 2, 2025, Part 1 of the Seasons of the Worm Cult from Elder Scrolls Online will start. Anyone who is into seasonal content will definitely need the new Content Pass. But what’s actually included? And what about ESO Plus and the free updates? MeinMMO summarizes everything about the new payment model for you.
It has almost become a tradition that the largest content package of the year for Elder Scrolls Online arrives in June. This will also be the case in 2025. However, you can expect that next month there won’t be another chapter – as there have been annually since 2017 – but rather the start of the first season of the MMORPG.
This season is called Seasons of the Worm Cult and is set to last until the end of the year. Anyone who wants to play the associated seasonal content must definitely have the new Content Pass.
Other new features will come through the planned free updates on the live servers. And then there’s also the optional ESO Plus subscription, which is still intended to exist but has nothing to do with the seasons. It’s quite a mess, which we will break down for you below.
What do I pay up to 90 euros for?
You can already purchase the new Content Pass, which is available in two variants:
- 2025 Content Pass for 49.99 euros (PC) or 54.99 euros (PlayStation and Xbox)
- 2025 Premium Edition for 79.99 euros (PC) or 89.99 euros (PlayStation and Xbox) – includes the Content Pass plus the base game and all 8 chapters
This is included in the Content Pass: Those who purchase the new Content Pass will gain access to the following content:
- Dungeon DLC Fallen Banners (already available since March)
- The zone Solstice with all its associated content (June 2, 2025 on PC, June 18, 2025 for Xbox and PlayStation)
- The world event around the wall and another dungeon pack (Q3 2025) – although the developers stated that it should also be possible to contribute to the success of the world event without a Content Pass (in what form is unclear)
- The season finale with an extension of the region plus new content (Q4 2025)
Anyone who buys the Content Pass before the start of the season will receive the following pre-order rewards:
- Action pack “Muschelstrom Beach”
- Mount “Lion Guard Horse of the 10th Anniversary”
- Companion “Mudcrab of the 10th Anniversary”
What about the free updates?
They are supposed to continue to occur regularly and, in addition to the usual bug fixes and balancing adjustments – as usual – bring new content or features that affect the entire game and are not just part of a season. Some examples of this include:
- The new subclasses, which have been introduced with the new season, are to be available to all players.
- The new “Welcome Back” features, intended to make it easier for returning players to come back to Tamriel.
- According to a Q&A session with the developers, the new raid is supposed to come with the free update 46 in June.
It fits that the developers want to make the feature of writing lore from the chapter Gold Road available to all players in mid-July.

What about ESO Plus?
The optional subscription for Elder Scrolls Online is supposed to continue to exist and be regularly expanded with additional benefits. For many years, it has been possible to purchase DLCs either via the Crown Store or unlock them with an active ESO Plus subscription. In addition, after some time, the chapter from the previous year always ended up in the subscription.
Due to the lack of new chapters, the latter will no longer happen. The DLC Fallen Banners, however, was still included in the ESO Plus subscription in March. Whether this will happen with upcoming dungeon content is unclear. A dungeon pack named “Feast of Shadows” is announced for the third quarter, and then we will know for sure.
These are the current benefits of ESO Plus:
- Access to all DLCs and chapters available in the Crown Store (exception: the chapter Gold Road from 2024 is currently not included)
- 1,650 crowns per month, for the Crown Store in-game
- Unlimited storage space for crafting materials
- Double space in the bank
- 10% increased experience gain and gold gain
- 10% bonus for alliance points and Tel’Var stones
- 10% increased profit from knowledge treasures in archives
- 10% increased inspiration gain and analysis speed
- Double number of placeable furnishing and collection items
- Exclusive ability to dye costumes
- Double number of maximum transmutation crystals
- Exclusive access to unique offers in the Crown Store
- Access to the companions Tanlorin and Zerith-Var
How exactly the developers want to expand ESO Plus in the future is currently unclear. The standard price for 30 days remains at 12.99 euros per month. Those who subscribe for 3, 6, or 12 months get corresponding discounts on the monthly price (10.41 euros per month is the cheapest option).
What about future seasons?
The developers emphasized in their presentation that 2025 is a transition year and that there will be a completely new zone in the summer for that reason. Upcoming seasons are expected to differ more clearly from the chapters of previous years starting in 2026 and will have entirely different durations. This will certainly also impact the prices of future Content Passes.
Since it was about ESO Plus: The developers of Elder Scrolls Online have announced a new event where players can grab great rewards, and the strength of their character does not matter: The MMORPG for Elder Scrolls is giving away 1 year of ESO Plus, and you don’t even need a strong character
