The mobile game The Elder Scrolls Blades is facing a major upheaval. The loot system, heavily criticized by players, is being completely revised – which is affecting the release of the Switch version.
What is the problem with the loot system? During your adventures, you could find chests. Depending on their value, whether wood, silver, gold, elder, or legendary, it took several minutes, hours, or even a whole day to open the chests – unless you purchased an instant opening.
The system has already been revised by the developers, but the criticism did not cease.
A long-awaited change
How will it change now? The upcoming update 1.5 completely abolishes the timers for the loot chests. You no longer need to wait hours to open your golden chest. You can now do this immediately after the update.
Furthermore, enemies drop more loot, and battling bosses will reward you with more valuable rewards. The developers state that while playing The Elder Scrolls Blades, you should feel better and have more fun when receiving more rewards.
What effects will this have? These changes will result in the release of the Nintendo Switch version of The Elder Scrolls Blades being postponed to the coming year. Originally, the game was supposed to be released for the Switch in 2019, but the team can no longer manage that.
The release is now planned for the beginning of the coming year, and Bethesda will announce the exact date later.
It is quite possible that the Switch release has something to do with the removal of the timers for the chests. Whether console players would have accepted such a game mechanic, commonly known from mobile games, is questionable. It did not seem to be well received even by mobile gamers.
There’s more to come and players are excited
What else does the update bring? Update 15 will also introduce the highly anticipated PvP battles. In an arena, you will face off against other players. However, you must have reached level 5 to participate. The PvP battles are 1-on-1 duels. With victories, you will rise in the leaderboard.
In addition, guilds will be introduced to the game. You can visit your friends’ towns and trade with one another. Moreover, you will represent your guild in PvP battles.
What do players think about the changes? The removal of timers from the loot chests is being celebrated.
KipsterED writes on Reddit: “Finally, I can sleep more than six hours straight again!”
Krypticreptiles comments: “No timers and more loot will definitely make me play more again.”
What do you think about the changes to The Elder Scrolls Blades? Is the removal of timers a reason for you to play the game again or even more?
