Actually, the layoffs at CCP Games should not have an impact on the MMORPG EVE Online. However, they did.
The majority of the community team was let go during restructuring. Allegedly, only four members of the team are still employed at CCP Games. The impact on the game became evident last weekend. The “The Anger Games” were supposed to take place, a community tournament that emphasizes fairness and is held annually in collaboration with CCP Games. But that did not happen.

Anger Games had to be canceled
Since every player in the Anger Games starts with the maximum skills and the same restrictions in ship building, certain adjustments need to be made on the server. For this, assistance from CCP Games is necessary, which they have always provided in collaboration with the tournament organizers.
However, since the majority of the community team has been laid off, the tournament had to be canceled at short notice. The remaining staff simply did not have the opportunity to make the necessary adjustments in such a short time.
Community team aims to resume regular operations
“CCP Falcon”, one of the few remaining community team members, apologized to the players. The team needs to come together to be able to resume regular community operations. But preparations for some upcoming community projects are already underway. However, after the restructuring at CCP Games, there simply was not enough time to prepare the Anger Games.
Many fans of EVE Online understand this. Others, however, are upset because the layoffs did indeed have an impact on the game, contrary to CCP Games’ announcement.
The developers are currently working on a new update for EVE Online, which aims to expand and make the Free2Play version more attractive.
