Fazan Studios aims to give the battle royale genre a new boost. In their new multiplayer title “Egress,” the developer is inspired by the popular games of the Dark Souls series.
Driven by the success of Fortnite, more and more developers are now trying to jump on the battle royale bandwagon. However, Fazan Studios distances itself from the now standardized shooter formula.
What exactly is Egress?
What is special about it? Egress is primarily intended to stand out from the growing number of battle royale games with a hardcore combat system reminiscent of the popular Dark Souls games.
A key component of this is the right timing for attacking and dodging.
Players will be able to choose from various heroes for the fight, each with their own abilities, strengths, and weaknesses.
What is the setting? Egress takes place in an alternate world of Victorian England, featuring strong elements from the Lovecraft universe.
The battlefield is a city at night with several different levels, from sewers to rooftops.
According to gameplay footage, the location will also change during battles, such as flooding the canals.
What game modes will there be? Solo and team games are planned. Each match will include up to 21 players.
