On November 23, 2022, the new shooter “Dysterra” will be available on Steam. After the game has been in open beta since July 2021, it is now launching in Early Access.
What kind of game is Dysterra? The title is a futuristic shooter with survival elements. The game is reminiscent of other sci-fi shooters like Halo, Destiny, or Fallout.
Dysterra also features a multiplayer mode, where playing together, as well as against each other, are important aspects of the game.
The setting is a desolate Earth. Players must prevent the extinction of humanity and ensure their own survival.

Survive in a dying world and prevent Terrafire
What does the gameplay in Dysterra look like? As players, you must fight for your survival in a desolate world. It is up to you who you cooperate with or whom you attack. The gameplay takes place from a first-person perspective.
As equipment in the fight for survival, your character has sci-fi weapons that you can also craft yourself. Depending on your playstyle, you can rely on melee or ranged weapons.
In addition to shooter gameplay, Dysterra delivers survival aspects, such as:
- Looting
- Crafting
- Building
You gather resources and food in the game world and must take care of a safe shelter and clothing. You can build your home from 16 basic elements and create useful structures and devices alongside buildings.
This way, you can hunt animals in the game to obtain their meat and prepare it on a self-built grill made of collected scrap metal.
Temperature changes like heat or cold, as well as radiation, can harm your character and must also be monitored by you.
In the game, there is also a special threat called “Terrafire.” This is a natural phenomenon caused by humans when they drilled to the Earth’s core. When a Terrafire erupts, it destroys the entire environment. Therefore, players must prevent the outbreak of such a fire at the checkpoints.
You are not alone in the world of Dysterra. You can band together with others to survive as a group and avoid Terrafire. At the same time, other players can pose a threat to you and attack you.
How much does Dysterra cost in Early Access? The price for the game on Steam has not yet been announced. However, it can be assumed that the game will be buy-to-play in Early Access.

Update on November 25, 2022: The purchase price for Dysterra has now been released. You pay €24.99 for the early access version of the game.
