In Pokémon GO, the big Easter Event 2020 has started and brings some surprises. There are unexpected Shinys, exciting quests, and even Ohrdoch.
This is the Easter Event: The event started this morning, on April 9, at 8:00 AM. It runs until April 16 at 10:00 PM. During this time, you can catch Pokémon that are related to Easter or eggs.
In some countries, the event has already been running for a few hours, and you can learn a lot about the Shinys, quests, and spawns.
Spring Event with Ohrdoch, new Shiny, and Quests
These quests are available: In total, 4 tasks related to eggs are waiting for you. All of them involve rare or shiny Pokémon:
- Hatch an egg
- Reward: Encounter with an Owei
- Hatch 2 eggs
- Reward: Encounter with an Azumarill
- Hatch 3 eggs
- Reward: Encounter with an Alola-Kokowei
- Hatch 4 eggs
- Reward: Encounter with a Chaneira
- Hatch 5 eggs
- Reward: Encounter with an Ohrdoch
Especially worthwhile are the quests for Chaneira and Alola-Kokowei. Both Pokémon can be shiny and are incredibly rare in the wild. So take the chance to catch the rare Shinys during the event.
What about Ohrdoch? Niantic wrote in their announcement that Ohrdoch can only be obtained with a lot of luck. However, the Pokémon can be obtained normally through the quest.
If you already have an Ohrdoch, you can do without further ones. The Pokémon is not strong and thus not relevant for the meta.
This Shiny has a surprise: Trainers report that you can catch Shiny Marill in the wild. Previously, this Pokémon could only be obtained as a Shiny through evolution – there were no Wild Shiny Marill. However, now you can catch it in the wild.
Another surprise is Shiny Evoli with a flower crown. The costume Pokémon was not announced beforehand but is now appearing in the wild. You can also catch it as a Shiny there.
What about the eggs? The 2 km eggs contain exactly what was previously announced. Togepi with a flower crown can be shiny, and there are many potential Shinys in the eggs.
A trainer from New Zealand reports on reddit that he hatched a total of 6 Riolu from 31 2 km eggs. This indicates a rather high rate for the rare Pokémon. You can easily hatch the eggs from home.
Keep in mind that there is currently a risk of contracting the coronavirus for yourself and others. The Federal Centre for Health Education recommends staying home as much as possible, keeping distance from others, and avoiding crowds. Niantic has implemented various measures to allow you to play Pokémon GO from home.
