Will Star Wars: The Old Republic be coming to Steam soon? At least some hints suggest so.
This is SWTOR: “Star Wars: The Old Republic” is one of the best free-to-play MMORPGs ever, but it was also quite a massive project. According to various reports, the budget for the game, which was released in 2011, was estimated to be between 200 and 300 million dollars.
However, the game has been missing on Steam so far. That might change now.

Note suggests SWTOR on Steam
This was found: The Twitter account “SWTOR Central” shared a screenshot of the game data, which also included a client file named “steam_api_dll”.
Here, the connection was quickly made that EA’s Star Wars MMORPG could also soon be on Steam. And it wouldn’t be the first EA game to make its way to Valve’s platform in recent months.
EA brought several games to Steam: Last year, EA and Valve formed a partnership, bringing EA Access to Steam. The collaboration started with “Jedi: Fallen Order”, another game from the Star Wars universe.
In June of this year, more EA games were added to Steam. For example, The Sims have been available since June 18, Battlefield and Mass Effect 3 came to Steam, as did Star Wars Battlefront and the newer installments of Dragon Age.
It seems possible that more EA games could land on Steam – including SWTOR.
This is what fans are saying: In the SWTOR subreddit, this discovery is already being discussed. Given that several EA games have recently made their way to Steam, the community believes it is possible that SWTOR could also be landing there soon.
Some players also hope that SWTOR could benefit from a launch on Steam: “Steam literally gave Titanfall 2 a second life, so we can hope for SWTOR as well,” says user Marquess13 (via reddit).
And indeed: when Titanfall 2 was released on Steam on June 18, it attracted thousands of players and received positive reviews. Players were happy that, for instance, the game’s multiplayer mode has experienced a resurgence. It’s possible that SWTOR could also get a little visibility boost if it attracts some Star Wars fans on Steam.
