Is Anthem under a lucky star? At least EA seems to be convinced of it. The publisher enjoys the interest of the upcoming player base.
Anthem is the next “big thing” from BioWare and for many it is clear: this is BioWare’s moment of truth. The developer studio stands or falls with Anthem. Fans are worried that Anthem may not generate the attention necessary to make the game a hit. However, the CEO of Electronic Arts, Andrew Wilson, paints a different picture: EA is quite satisfied with the interest in Anthem.
Fan interest in Anthem remains high. In an “Investor’s Call,” CEO Andrew Wilson stated:
“We are quite satisfied with the excitement surrounding Anthem […]. Our demo sessions were consistently filled and we continue to experience great interest and anticipation from fans eager to learn more. BioWare is building an incredibly deep, innovative “Shared World” experience and we are already looking forward to sharing more with our players in the coming months. This also includes the possibility of diving into the game even before the launch.”
BioWare and Anthem have already faced quite a bit of criticism. Trust in the game studio is already shaken after the flop of Mass Effect: Andromeda. The fact that BioWare is now deviating from its usual RPG territory to develop a co-op shooter makes many fans skeptical. At the same time, there are many conspiracy theories that EA is leaving the developers with no other choice – an insider has disputed this.
Anthem will be released on February 22, 2019, unless there are further delays.
Are you looking forward to Anthem and are you part of the eagerly anticipating group? Or are you more skeptical and waiting to see before the disappointment becomes great?
