In EA FC 25 has Twitch streamer Elias “EliasN97” Nerlich wasted more than 3 million coins in Ultimate Team. To make matters worse, his favorite card became worse as well. He just wanted to show a small token of love to his idol.
How did EliasN97 waste over 3 million coins for a design? During the weekend of June 6 to 8, the streamer played the FUT Champions Weekend League in EA FC 25 and uploaded the highlights from his Twitch stream to YouTube.
In attack, he positioned his favorite player Cristiano Ronaldo in his Team of the Season
version (TOTS). The card costs over 3 million coins on the transfer market in Ultimate Team (via futbin).
After Ronaldo scored over 40 goals for him in the first 9 games, EliasN97 wanted to pay a special tribute to his idol. The streamer decided to upgrade the tradable TOTS version of Ronaldo in an Evolution (EVO) with a unique red Champions design.
The EVO “Champions Excellence” is actually free, but there’s a catch: activating the EVO transforms the tradable card into an untradable card, which can no longer be traded on the transfer market. Fully convinced, EliasN97 stated that he would never sell Cristiano again and that he wanted to express his love for the superstar through the new design.
However, with the EVO not only were the over 3 million coins wasted, but the card also became worse.
Worse stats for Ronaldo due to new card design
Why do the stats worsen because of the new design? Ronaldo not only received a different design through the EVO, but also lost his status as a TOTS card. TOTS cards are characterized by their strong stats and playstyles, and they start with 2 out of 3 chemistry points for team building. With full 3 out of 3 chemistry, there is an additional stat boost for specific values.
To get a TOTS card to full chemistry, it’s sufficient in the starting lineup to have …

- another player from the same club
- 3 other players from the same league
As an alternative, one can also simply choose a manager with the specified requirements for their team.
Instead of the chemistry advantage of a TOTS card, the streamer now had to deal with the fact that his new Ronaldo card had to be painstakingly brought to full chemistry to benefit from the stat boosts. With Cristiano Ronaldo, this is really a challenge, as the Portuguese plays in Saudi Arabia and there are hardly any professionals from Saudi Arabia who belong to the elite in FC 25. The best and most popular cards rather belong to the top leagues in Europe.
The difference between a Ronaldo at full chemistry and low chemistry is noticeably, according to the streamer, so he had to come up with something.
How did the streamer solve the problem? To ensure that his new Ronaldo card could still reach full chemistry, EliasN97 initially played with 2 Icons and the Portuguese João Cancelo, who also earns his money in Saudi Arabia.
However, the streamer was not entirely satisfied with that, so he put Ronaldo into another EVO, which gave him a retro TOTS style from previous FIFA titles.
