In EA FC 25, some fans have been complaining in recent days about less fun in gameplay. A well-known German Twitch streamer also believes that gameplay, especially in the Weekend League, has worsened and has a theory as to why the game isn’t quite running smoothly there right now.
What kind of streamer is he? Simon “GamerBrother” Schildgen is one of the most well-known content creators in Germany for FC 25. He impresses not only with expensive pack openings but also with good gameplay.
With the new big gameplay refresh update from early January, he claims to have had a lot of fun and was even quite successful.
After the patch, he achieved 14 wins out of 15 matches in the Weekend League (January 24-27). Thus, he narrowly missed the best possible result in the most competitive competition in FC 25.
In the last Weekend League (January 31 to February 3), little remained of the success, especially of the fun in gameplay. The gameplay caused him great problems. You can see his experiences summarized in a video on his YouTube channel:
What weaknesses were there in gameplay? The content creator complained in FC 25 about…
- … fast attackers who could be too easily caught by defenders.
- … simple passes that were executed too inaccurately.
- … the sluggishness of his players while dribbling.
- … delayed execution of his inputs for runs, tricks, passes, and shots.
- … strange animations where players just fall down or run into each other.
- … too much randomness in defense, especially regarding manual defending and blocked shots.
All these aspects led to the content creator ending the live stream on his Twitch channel early on Sunday (February 2). On Monday (February 3), he attempted the next try off-stream, without viewers.
Even in the renewed attempt, things did not go much better. The expert struggled through the matches, as the gameplay remained, in his opinion, unchanged poorly. He finished the Weekend League with a hard-fought 10 wins.
What particularly upset him was the cause of the poor gameplay. According to his theory, there is a problem that has already existed since the FIFA days and keeps appearing in EA FC.
Streamer cites EA’s servers as the reason for the problems
Why does GamerBrother suspect a problem with the servers? His observations reportedly align with those of many colleagues he spoke with in the days prior. They too encountered the same problems in the Weekend League.
GamerBrother once again suspects EA’s servers as the cause. Particularly the delayed execution of input commands and the sluggishness in his players’ actions are clear indicators of server problems.
Some fans also blame the servers for poor gameplay
Server issues have also been one of the main criticisms of many streamers and fans in the past. You can find hundreds of posts addressing this issue from previous years in the subreddit “EA Sports FC” under the search term “EA Server” with countless reactions and comments. (via Reddit)
One of the latest discussions around the link between server issues and poorer gameplay on Reddit revolves around this theme. The problems described are almost identical to GamerBrother’s observations:
User studgeYNWA reports in the aforementioned thread on Reddit about…
- … “slow attackers, “
- … “players who leave the ball behind”
- … “and poor ball control.”
In summary, studgeYNWA talks about a desynchronization that manifests in the game as follows: “While one user is fully synchronized, the other is not. Your game client might think the ball is at point X or Y while the actual position is A or B.” (via Reddit)
He goes on to explain: “This mismatch does not lead to connection drops but causes problems – missed tackles, players running past the ball, unnecessary extra touches, delays in shooting or tackling.” (via Reddit)
Many users agree with his statements, report similar problems, and come to the same conclusions.
Parts of the community see the danger that the positive trend that had been developing in the relationship between EA Sports and the community regarding Team of the Year (TOTY) could quickly turn negative again. Some fans did not trust EA regarding the gameplay refresh and the recently shown generosity for the TOTY: FC 25 supplies the community with strong players and updates – fans suspect a reason: “EA has hit where it hurts”
