What kind of update is this? This is now the seventh major update in EA FC 25. It involves changes to gameplay, game modes, as well as visual and auditory elements.
The new Title Update 7 has been available for download since Wednesday afternoon (January 8, 2025) and is 1,078 GB in size on PlayStation 5.

What is the biggest change in the new update? For gameplay, the adjustment of directly played high through balls (L1+Triangle/LB+Y) is the most relevant. Many players exploited this OP mechanic to lob over your defenders without effort, allowing opposing attackers to run unopposed at your goal.
This is set to become less likely, as EA states in the Trello: “We have reduced the accuracy of directly advanced high through balls.” (via Trello EA Sports Title Update 7)

- Display errors and stability issues with pack animations have been fixed
- new animation for double walkouts: displayed details apply to the weaker player
Gameplay
- a bug that allowed players to crowd too close to opposing players during defensive actions, perform automatic tackles, and make the space too tight has been fixed
- Issues with performing skill moves have been resolved
- Incorrect goalkeeper animations have been revised
- Faulty throw-in animations have been fixed
- Problems with executing certain passes have been resolved
- Issues with unnaturally strong heading animations have been fixed
- Issues with super cancel (pressing all shoulder buttons at the same time), which cancels the current action, have been resolved
- Problems with invisible players on the field have been fixed
Clubs
- Display errors in the top performer screen have been fixed
- Issues where disconnections caused AI players to take penalties have been resolved
- Display errors in goal replays have been fixed
Career Mode
- Stability issues with live star points have been fixed
- Stability issues in Manager Career during substitutions or restarting a career have been resolved
- Irrelevant and incorrect emails in Professional Career have been removed
- In Manager Career, the number of player roles that a player can learn throughout their career has been expanded
- In UEFA competitions, the matchmaking regarding clubs from the same league has been revised
General, Audio and Visual
- New details for the stadium atmosphere have been added
- Game faces have been revised
- In season and co-op seasons, favorite teams and tactical settings can be accessed through a quick selection
- Various graphic problems in the menu and in-game have been fixed
- Stability issues have been resolved
In a tweet on X, EA announced further changes for the next Title Update. These concern:
- Speed of ground passes
- The speed differences of faster and slower players while dribbling
- Positioning of goalkeepers
- Balance of PlayStyle “Cut Shots”
- Intercepting balls by AI defenders
- Recovering balls after winning challenges (tacklebacks)
- Shot assistants
