These are evolutions: The evolutions are an exciting new feature in Ultimate Team, allowing you to upgrade certain players when they meet the requirements. For each evolution, you can select a card.
This means cards can become useful that are otherwise too weak. Others will even become really strong meta cards.
Consequently, the evolutions are quite popular among players, who are now waiting for new upgrade possibilities. At the launch of EA FC 24, six evolutions were available in Ultimate Team. Now players are demanding more, because EA had actually announced that more would come.

When are new evolutions coming? That’s somewhat open, because EA actually announced in the pitch notes for the launch of Ultimate Team: “In addition to the types of evolutions mentioned above, we will introduce new evolutions every week during the ‘Welcome to the Club’ season. In the first season, there will be a total of 12 evolutions, including a tutorial evolution and a FC Founders evolution” (via ea.com).
As of now, however, no new evolutions have arrived since the original six. The current “Welcome to the Club” season still runs for 22 days, until November 1st. Therefore, by then, six more evolutions should actually have been released.
A weekly release of one evolution per week is already not possible. So either multiple will come in shorter intervals, or it will take longer.
What players say: The innovation was well received right away, and many would like to continue. Thus, some players are expressing their irritation on social media about the lack of evolution updates. Also in the subreddit for EA Sports FC:
There, a player compares the situation with the “Event” tab from last year’s Ultimate Team, which remained unused overall. “EA is wasting a great feature,” writes the user HillariousLife (via reddit).
In the comments, players are wondering when the next ones will come:
- One user suspects that the next ones will come when the current ones expire (via reddit). In the case of “Defense Speed” and “Unyielding Wing,” that would be the case on October 11th, in the evening, and in the case of “Helpful Supply” parts 1 & 2 on Monday evening, October 16th.
- “I need more evolutions for my silvers and bronzes. I can’t upgrade my striker because he is rated too low, which is really bad,” wishes one (via reddit).
- “It’s increasingly looking like a missed engagement opportunity for EA,” comments another (via reddit).
Here, it simply remains to be seen when the new evolutions will come into play and what they will ultimately look like.
