EA Sports has significantly adjusted the gameplay with the 6th Title Update for FC 24, weakening a popular playstyle and its Plus variant to the point where it could lose relevance. In this case, another playstyle would likely take its place in the meta of Ultimate Team.
This is the situation:
- EA Sports released a major patch for FC 24 on December 6. Title Update 6, referred to by the publisher as the Holiday Update, brings several changes to gameplay and Ultimate Team.
- In addition to changes in the pressing behavior of the AI, the nerf of the Finesse Shot and Finesse Shot Plus playstyles stands out. Cards featuring one of these playstyles will now execute the affected shots with reduced accuracy.
- EA Sports justifies the weakening due to an overly high effectiveness of the shot type, which has ultimately led to disproportionately many goals.
- Since finesse shots are considered a popular meta mechanic, they might lose relevance through the patch, particularly bringing another playstyle into focus.
Title Update 6 nerfs finesse shots in FC 24 – Is Trivelas the new meta?
This could be the time for Trivelas: The popularity of a card in FC 24 Ultimate Team is usually determined by its playability. If this decreases, players are replaced by others that fit better with the current meta.
And that’s where Trivela shots or finishes with the outside of the foot come into play. These are also seen as a popular method for a long-range shot and can be very effective in combination with the appropriate playstyles.
Since the accuracy of Trivelas has not been reduced, it is likely that they could gain significantly in popularity from now on. Especially cards like the recently released Frenkie de Jong Thunderstruck would benefit from this.
Are there any further consequences? Since playstyles are not available on the market, unlike Chemistry Styles, and are therefore already set with the release of a card, the relevance also decreases with the price of the respective players.
Thus, after the announcement, the market values of several meta cards possessing the Finesse Shot Plus playstyle have dropped significantly. A common phenomenon, as many UT players often react to significant changes with panic selling.
However, early reports from the community indicate that the affected shots continue to perform well, which is why prices have partly increased again without reaching the original value.
