The introduced Evolution feature for FC 24 is one of the most popular changes in Ultimate Team. Although EA Sports still seems to fall short of maximizing its potential from the community’s perspective, there are still plenty of opportunities to unlock strong cards. What is an Evolution? An Evolution offers the opportunity to upgrade a card, provided it meets the necessary requirements.
These requirements usually consist of a rating cap, a required position, and individual values that the player must not exceed. In most cases, the Evolutions are free, but a fixed coin or FC-Points price is possible.
Each Evolution can only be completed over a specified period, which is split into two parts:
- The unlocking specifies until when a player must be added for the Evolution.
- The expiration indicates how much time remains to complete the Evolution.
How does an Evolution work? The chosen player is added to the Evolution tab and then transformed into an untradable card with a new design.
To improve him, gameplay-specific tasks must be completed. If the required goals are met, the player either receives a rating/value boost, additional playstyles, or can be played in new positions.
What is an Evolution Path? As EA regularly releases new Evolutions, even already upgraded cards can be improved multiple times. The resulting path from the card’s origin, through all utilized Evos, to the current version is referred to as an Evolution Path.
This creates the possibility to transform inconspicuous cards into real top players. To help you know which ones are currently worth it and still unlockable, we have created an overview.

Ben White (FC Arsenal)
Evo-Path: Gold card (80), defensive strength
Cost: free
Remaining time: The unlocking for defensive strength is 19 days. The expiration occurs in 26 days.
Why is the Evolution worthwhile? Although Ben White is primarily used as a right-back, he can also be played as a center-back. Combined with excellent links (Premier League, England, Arsenal), the 26-year-old becomes a real alternative in the center.
Furthermore, the Shadow chemistry style still provides the maximum boost for in-game stats despite the improved values.
N’Golo Kante (Al Ittihad)
Evo-Path: Gold card (86), boost
Cost: free
Remaining time: The unlocking for boost is 16 days. The expiration occurs in 23 days.
Why is the Evolution worthwhile? The small Frenchman has been among the best gold players in Ultimate Team for years. Although he has lost some pace and thus his rating as a meta card due to age, the Evolution boost brings it back.
Additionally, Kante is ideal for linking with the recently released Flashback SBC of Allan Saint-Maximin (both France, Saudi-League). His low price, combined with his strong stats, makes him one of the most popular cards in all of FC 24 (ranked 6).
Robbie Keane (Premier League Hero)
Evo-Path: Base hero card (86), hero upgrade
Cost: 75,000 coins / 500 FC Points
Remaining time: The unlocking for the hero upgrade is 18 days. The expiration occurs in 25 days.
Why is the Evolution worthwhile? The 86 version of Keane is one of the best base heroes. The Evolution ensures that the striker can still compete with comparable event cards in his position, which gradually get stronger throughout the year.
Only the price might be a downside. But if you have drawn the Irishman during the Black Friday promo, the investment is definitely worth it. Important: Even in his improved form, Keane retains all three chemistry stars at any time.
Paul Pogba (Juventus Turin)
Evo-Path: Gold card (82), triple threat attack, boost
Cost: 50,000 coins / 1,000 FC Points
Remaining time: The unlocking for triple threat attack is 4 days. The expiration occurs in 11 days. The unlocking for boost is 16 days. The expiration occurs in 23 days.
Why is the Evolution worthwhile? Just like Kante, Pogba was one of the most used cards in Ultimate Team at his peak. However, his injury problems and declining performances on the real pitch have led to some downgrades. Those who want the old Pogba back will be pleased with this Evo-Path.
Especially the pace boost of +15 makes the card interesting again. Since he also has five-star skills, four-star weak foot, and a height of 1.91m, one can rightly say he is a true midfield monster.
