In EA FC 24 we accidentally stumbled upon a curious gameplay bug. The trigger for the issue is a coach from the Bundesliga, who also attracted attention in real life due to his unruly behavior and subsequent punishment.
Who is it about? Nenad Bjelica has been the coach of Union Berlin since late 2023. The capital club is still in a difficult situation and must prove itself in the relegation battle of the 1. Bundesliga. Additionally, Coach Bjelica made a serious misstep a few weeks ago during a game when he grabbed Bayern player Sané’s face twice during a verbal altercation on the sidelines.
Following his faux pas, he received a hefty fine and a suspension of three games, meaning he could only watch the last three matches of his team from the stands. Curiously, it seems that something is also off with Coach Bjelica’s manager card in EA FC 24.

What is the problem? As shown in the picture, there are complications with the Croatian’s manager card. When adding Bjelica as a coach to the active squad in Ultimate Team and then trying to start a game, the message appears: “You must assign a manager in the lower right corner of the screen.”
It seems the game does not recognize the Union coach’s card. The problem occurs in all modes of Ultimate Team, both online and offline. We are not aware of any solution to the problem. To play Ultimate Team in EA FC 24, it seems you will have to temporarily forgo Bjelica as a coach until the error is fixed.
Is there a connection between the problem and his suspension? The coincidence is indeed curious. Still, we cannot imagine that EA intended to punish Bjelica in the game as well. In the past, in cases of misconduct or trouble due to unsportsmanlike behavior by players or officials, EA typically removed any troublesome cards from the game.
