Anthem is currently facing some issues. EA has now commented on the serious crashing problem, which especially makes PS4 users worry about their console. We summarize the news for you.
This is what has happened so far: On April 3rd, MeinMMO and other media reported on the crashing issues that some players are currently experiencing in Anthem. According to some reports, this error occurs on Xbox One and PS4, but seems to be significantly more common on Sony’s console.
How EA is responding: Publisher Electronic Arts has now commented several times. In a support Twitter post, it says: “We are looking into this and need the data from your crash error reports when they are displayed to you.”
EA is now collecting data in the official forum to address the issue. If the error occurs for you, please submit everything you see in the error message. Also, on Reddit, the support confirmed that they are working on the problem and want to find a solution quickly.
Crashing issues on consoles cause frustration
What exactly causes this error? Under certain circumstances, Anthem can not only crash but also cause the entire console to shut down. It is considered likely that the error occurs mainly when quitting Anthem directly using the “Close Application” option. The crash does not only lead to a shutdown of the console; it is more like pulling the plug.
In our comment section and on other platforms, some players even reported completely damaged consoles.
My console is broken – what to do? Reddit user katcher12 writes that the error should not actually “destroy” consoles and has presented a possible workaround.
If your console does not start after experiencing such a crash, follow these steps:
- Start the PS4 in safe mode (hold down the power button until it beeps twice). This cannot be done via the controller.
- In safe mode, you should be able to select the “Restore Database” option.
- Do not select Initialize, as this will erase all your data from the hard drive.
However, katcher12 warns against continuing to play despite the problems before the actual issue is resolved. The risk remains.
