Some insiders of the “Call of Duty” League believe that Activision and the developers of CoD: Modern Warfare are not doing enough for the competitive and pro scene in the current installment of the series. This has led to significant criticism.
Who is criticizing? Currently, most players are likely occupied with the upcoming Season 4 and its delay. However, in a recent podcast, some insiders of the CoD League also discussed the support from the developers for Modern Warfare concerning the competitive aspect – or rather the lack of support there.
Among those present were
- the head coach of the CoD pro team Atlanta FaZe from the “Call of Duty” League, James “Crowder” Crowder
- the former pro player and caster Joe “MerK” Deluca
- and Tyler “TeePee” Polchow – a former pro, coach, and commentator regarding Call of Duty
All participants were from the field and strongly criticized the current state of the game.
What exactly is being criticized?
Some of the biggest issues, in their eyes, include the lack of proper weapon tuning since the game’s release, no real spawn updates, and the general “culture” surrounding Modern Warfare, the latest installment of Call of Duty.
No proper weapon tuning: As an example of inadequate or missing tuning of the weapons, Crowder brought up the MP5.
This weapon has been considered too strong since its release and was even nerfed on January 28, 2019. Yet it is still incredibly strong, remains one of the best weapons in Modern Warfare, and can still outperform the M4A1 from a distance – mind you, one of the currently best assault rifles. And that as a submachine gun.
That should not be the case. However, since the game’s launch, no proper weapon tuning has been seen, according to the coach.
He is by no means the only one bothered by this, as numerous comments under a corresponding tweet on this topic from Seattle Surge pro Sam ‘Octane’ Larew show.
No proper spawn point update: What was also strongly criticized are the poor spawns, which not only pros but also many “regular” players complain about. We at MeinMMO have also reported on this multiple times. Here you can learn more:
- Pro about CoD MW: “The worst spawn system I have ever played”
- CoD Modern Warfare: You can’t die more absurdly than in these clips
Joe “MerK” Deluca expressed pessimism six months after the release and said: “We haven’t gotten anything – I will say it as often as I can ‘on air.'” The disappointment was also not to be overheard: “It was our first ‘Franchised League’ and everyone had much bigger hopes than in previous years.” However, these were evidently not fulfilled in regard to the support.
Overall culture has changed: Furthermore, Tyler “TeePee” Polchow complained about the changed “culture” at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The support one currently receives in the league regarding such problems from the developers is simply unacceptable – especially compared to earlier “Call of Duty” games.
TeePee said: “I had experiences with Infinity Ward. Now it’s different. The culture is different when it comes to such matters. From what we had in previous Infinity Ward games to what we get now – it is unacceptable for what the league is. It’s bullshit, man. I’m telling you.”
What do you say? Is this complaining at a high level? Or are you also dissatisfied with the competitive multiplayer in CoD: Modern Warfare? What do you consider the biggest problems there? Have you possibly noticed overall changes over the years as a long-time loyal player? Has the culture of the games and the developers really changed? Let us know in the comments.
