You often have to open locked doors in Dying Light 2 to progress in buildings. Players have now discovered a trick to break them open easily, saving you the lockpicks. All you need is a certain parkour skill and timing. MeinMMO shows you how it works.
This is how lockpicking usually works: The survival game relies on the usual lockpicking mechanic known from RPGs. You might know it from Skyrim:
- You need to move the lockpick in the lock until you find the right spot.
- Then you need to push through until the lock is open.
- If you are too careless, the lockpick breaks and you need another one.
- There are several difficulty levels from “Easy” to “Very hard.”
Lockpicking only becomes challenging starting from the hard difficulty level. You mainly encounter locked doors in GRE buildings that you can enter at night,to find inhibitors.
However, under time pressure, it can be difficult to get the doors open. When immunity is no longer sufficient, you die in the dark. Therefore, the trick to break these open without a lockpick is quite useful.
Two Parkour Skills Enable the Trick
This is how you can break open locked doors: The crucial factors are two abilities from the parkour skill tree. You only need one of them to break open locked doors.
- Crowd Runner
- Press LB/L1/G while running to dash through a group of enemies and reduce the damage you take.
- Requires 160 stamina and the Sleek Runner skill.
- Bash
- Press R2/RT/right mouse button while sprinting (hunting sprint with the left stick/Shift key) to ram into multiple enemies.
- Requires 200 stamina and the Dart skill.
Now run towards a locked door and use one of the two skills to break it open. This way, you won’t waste lockpicks on doors anymore.
The “Crowd Runner” skill is likely the fastest option since you need less stamina to unlock the ability. Unfortunately, there is currently no gameplay we can show directly here, but you can check out a clip from our colleagues at PCGamer.com.
The trick was shared in the Subreddit for Dying Light 2 and has since gained more attention. There is a possibility that it is a bug.
So be prepared that the developers at Techland might remove this feature from the game. It could also be intended this way.
