What exactly are inhibitors? These inhibitor inhibitors are among the most important items in the survival RPG. They have two important effects that make your character stronger as you progress in the game.
- Inhibitors increase your immunity in the dark. This allows you to go looting longer at night.
- Every third inhibitor also grants you a skill point, which you can use to increase your health or stamina.
- These attributes determine which abilities you can activate.
Inhibitors are thus the central building block for making your character stronger and more resilient. You will also unlock abilities.
But how do you find them? What are the best places to look for inhibitors? We give you an overview.
Dying Light 2 distributes inhibitors throughout the city
In total, there are 126 inhibitor inhibitors that are spread across Old Villedor and the Central Loop. First, a few general tips you should keep in mind.
As soon as you are near an inhibitor, you will be notified. A display in the bottom left of your HUD shows you the distance to the inhibitor.
This gives you a direct hint about where you need to move. However, there are containers that can only be reached inside buildings and only at night.
So don’t get too distracted; you can also actively search for them.
At a certain point in the main story, you will also unlock the antennas in the city. If you activate them, you can uncover all question marks in the respective district, making all inhibitor containers visible.
How to find inhibitors: You usually find the inhibitors in special containers. These are hidden in various locations and also accessible through specific activities.
These include:
- Story missions
- GRE anomalies
- Crates
- Subway stations
- GRE buildings
- Aerial deliveries
Inhibitors in story missions
What you need to keep in mind: Throughout the main story of Dying Light 2, you will be guided to various important locations in the game world.
You will usually come across new inhibitor containers automatically. However, pay attention to the warning about inhibitors nearby. It’s easy to overlook that you are passing by a container on a mission.
Explore the mission areas thoroughly as soon as you receive a notification. Many of the mission areas are harder to access later, so you save yourself some work.
Most main quests bring you containers with three inhibitor inhibitors. It’s worth it, as there’s a guaranteed attribute point each time.
Inhibitors at GRE anomalies
What you need to keep in mind: Anomalies can only be found at night. These are usually special and particularly dangerous variants of zombies, a kind of mini-boss.
You have to defeat these, along with some other zombies, in a sort of arena battle. This will open a GRE container nearby, where you will find a container with two inhibitors and other useful items.
Many of the anomalies are particularly vulnerable to ranged attacks, so it can be useful to have a bow or crossbow on hand.
Inhibitors in crates
What you need to keep in mind: There are also individual inhibitor inhibitors that can be found in regular containers such as crates, safes, or other hiding spots.
These are also distributed across regular buildings throughout the map. The time of day is not critical here. During the day, it will be a bit more challenging, as zombies are inside the buildings.
However, this should not pose a major problem, especially as you progress in the game.
Inhibitors in subway stations
What you need to keep in mind: Subway stations also play an important role in the game, independent of inhibitors. If you reactivate the power there, you unlock a fast travel point in the game world.
In addition, there is an inhibitor container if you successfully reactivate all generators. They will only be displayed to you once the subway station is operational again.
So keep your eyes peeled; the inhibitor is usually located right by your storage there.
Inhibitors in GRE buildings
What you need to keep in mind: These locations are also spread across all districts and can be recognized by their quarantine symbol on the map.
You can only enter them at night, and you should still prepare well. While most zombies are active outside at night, GRE buildings are still well filled with biters.
In each GRE building, you can retrieve four inhibitor inhibitors. In total, there are three containers to find, of which the first two each yield one inhibitor, while the third contains 2.
So you get a guaranteed attribute point upon successful completion and a small bonus. In addition, there is plenty of loot to be found in the buildings.
Inhibitors in aerial deliveries
What you need to keep in mind: Some of you may have noticed the military support deliveries that can be found on rooftops throughout the game world.
While most of them contain loot and military technology, some of them also bring inhibitors. A separate guide with the locations is already in the works and will be linked here later.
In general, it is recommended to uncover the map as much as possible through antennas. This helps in the search for inhibitors and also lets you see if they are regular crates or, for example, GRE buildings.
If you see 4 inhibitors in one place close together, that’s a clear indication of a GRE building. This will save you search time and confusion when you are crossing the game world.
