Do you often miss edges or just want to get back down to the ground of the world of Dying Light 2 faster? MeinMMO shares some tips that will help you soften your fall and survive even high drops.
Parkour is an important element in Dying Light 2. You need it to get through the city quickly, escape from zombies, or find secret Easter eggs.
Unlike many games, the game’s assistance is not as pronounced. If you miss a rooftop edge, it’s a free fall. A high fall does not always mean death, but it can cause damage, stun you, and attract zombies that will finish you off.
If you fall too deep, you die instantly. If you play co-op, a teammate can revive you after a slip-up. However, this only works if they survive the fall as well.
There are some tips that will help you survive a fall or daring jump from very high buildings and towers, even without a parachute.
3 Tips to Soften Your Fall
The game itself advises you to soften your fall. There are various ways to do this.
1. Use Mattresses
Mattresses are your primary survival insurance. Throughout the world, you will find mattresses marked with a blue X. They are often located in trash bins or on a pile of garbage bags, so they may not be immediately visible.
Even if Aiden lands quite hard, a mattress softens a jump from any height. Some crazy players have tested how deep the fall can be and concluded: very deep.
2. Enemies Serve as Cushions
If you are lucky – or unlucky, depending on your perspective – to encounter a zombie or another enemy on a rooftop, you can use them as a cushion for your fall. As seen in the trailers for Dying Light 2, you can simply pull them down with you.
An enemy must be standing at the edge of a building, and you need to have the “Block Attack” skill in the combat skill tree. After a block, press the corresponding key/button to throw the enemy backward.
You will fall to the ground with them. If the fall is deep enough, the enemy dies instantly. According to some players, this can even work with strong elite enemies.
3. Kick Zombies or Humans from the Air
The third tip requires a bit more practice and good timing. Additionally, you must have learned the “Air Kick” skill. Alternatively, the following also work:
- Smash
- Smash Jump
However, you only get both skills later on. When jumping from a building, you need to press the corresponding key when an enemy is underneath you. Timing is important in this case because if you press it at the wrong time, you’ll crash to the ground.
If you decide to use enemies as cushions, you will even be rewarded with bloody effects. And they are not even cut – at least not if you play on PC:

With these tricks, you will survive jumps from any height – but you should be careful. Because not everywhere are there enemies or mattresses. However, it is useful if you need to get back down quickly.
