What is known so far: Developer Techland has not announced any microtransactions so far. However, they have also not been publicly denied.
Therefore, there is actually no reason to assume the existence of an in-game shop. After all, it is an open-world game that can only be played co-op, with a clear focus on story.
Nonetheless, there were long-standing doubts raised by a rating from the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).
This rating gives Dying Light 2 a 17+ age rating and notes in-game purchases. So is there possibly a shop with microtransactions after all?
This is what the developers say: In response to a player’s inquiry in the Steam forum (via reddit), a developer from Techland recently responded. It states: “As far as I know, we received this rating because you can buy our DLCs directly from the in-game menu, just like in Dying Light 1.”
Thus, there will indeed be an in-game shop, but it will only offer the DLCs that have already been announced.
While this statement does not rule out the possibility of other content, nothing else indicates that there could be microtransactions.
Dying Light 2 will be supplied with new content until 2027
What comes after release? By June, several free DLCs and a paid story expansion are set to be released.
In addition, developer Techland aims to continuously provide new content for the survival game over 5 years until 2027. A roadmap has already been revealed for this.
Dying Light 2 will be released on February 4 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. The game will be released in a modified version in Germany.
