In Call of Duty: Warzone, we now finally know from official sources that Duos are in the works. Additionally, data miners have unearthed 13 more modes from the game data that could provide plenty of variety.
What players are missing in Warzone: Since the rocket-like launch of the battle royale in the CoD universe, players have missed the opportunity to battle together in a duo team. So far, it has only been possible to let loose as a solo player, in a trio, or in a squad in the BR.
Only lovers of refined duo action have been left empty-handed so far. With each new update, the hope was high. And finally: official information about the duo mode will soon put a smile on the faces of duo teams.
New information about Duos: In an interview (via Gamergen.com), Amos Hodge, Creative Director at Raven Software, revealed that the duo mode for Warzone is currently in development:
[We have to] iron out some bugs with Duos. […] so we will reach a point in the future where we will add Duos.
To be exact, there actually existed a duo mode in Warzone in a way – but only as Plunder. This variant does not count as the core experience for many soldiers, as here you fight for money with activated respawns rather than for survival.
By the way, the studio Raven Software has been part of the CoD series development team for years and supports Infinity Ward in the development of Warzone.
When could Duos arrive? Those who expected an immediate introduction of the duo mode will have to be strong. The interview states: “At the moment, I cannot give you an exact time, but Duos are coming.”
It could possibly launch with Season 4. The developers provided first insights into the next content cycle at CoD and possibly the mysterious bunkers will even open. Season 4 is expected to launch on June 2, 2020.
Leak reveals 13 new modes for Warzone
What modes are they? Cunning data miners (via reddit) have found names and even some descriptions for new Warzone modes in the latest CoD updates. These are supposed to complement core experiences like BR Trios and will probably rotate to provide variety in the battle royale.
Similarly, the mode “Scopes & Scatter” functioned. Players could only collect sniper rifles, DMRs, and shotguns for a few days. With such variations, one always feels like there’s something new to do and a fresh breeze blowing in Warzone.
These are the 13 modes listed by the leak:
- Classic BR: This variant is supposed to play like classic battle royales, hence these characteristic Warzone features are missing:
- Mo Gulag, Mo Problems: Dead players go to the Gulag until the last 3 circles – no buybacks for defeated players
- BYOL – Bring your own loadout: Starts with your own gear
- Non Stop: The gas never stops and continuously shrinks the circle
- Pew Pew: High damage pistols with explosive physics effects
- Run Like Hell – The circle is faster than a running player
- Bottom Line – When a player dies, they will return to the fight if they have enough cash on them. (Gulag disabled)
- Realism – Minimal HUD (likely significantly increased headshot damage)
- Infinite Gulag – No description
- Most Wanted – No description
- One Shot – No description
- Stimulus – No description
- Inflation Redeployment – No description
With the new event-like modes and Duos, however, Infinity Ward must proceed with caution. Because as the past has shown, the player community often reacts quite sensitively to unwanted playlist updates.
For instance, the Trio mode has already been replaced twice by another mode – an immediate outcry from the community followed. The result was always that within days, Infinity Ward caved and brought back the popular Trios.
What do you think about the presented alternatives – fresh wind for Warzone or do you just want to play Trios? Do you have any idea what could be hiding behind the still undefined modes? Let us know in the comments.
