It is not uncommon during an adventure for a character to meet their end. Especially in cases where your group is unable to react immediately and cast spells like “Revivify” (via DnD Beyond), it becomes difficult to save the character. Or if not much is left of that character, the help may not be of much use either.
For such cases, there is the spell “True Resurrection.” With this spell, the target you want to resurrect can have been dead for a maximum of 200 years and must not have died of old age. The target is completely healed and regains all hit points.
The spell also closes all wounds, neutralizes any poison, cures all magical diseases, and removes any curses that were on the creature at the time of death. Additionally, damaged or missing organs and limbs are replaced.
If the target existed in an undead form, it is reverted to its original, living form. If no physical body exists, the spell can create a new body.
While there is a similar spell at level 7 called “Resurrection” (via DnD Beyond), it comes with some restrictions and negative effects that must be overcome.
