Just a few days ago, there was the first gameplay of Dune: Awakening. Of course, the question now arises as to when the Survival MMO will finally be released. We asked the developers themselves.
On March 4, Funcom released a Dune: Awakening Direct after a long wait, showing the first gameplay of the game. Accordingly, the question now arises about the release of Dune: Awakening – there were already early rumors in 2019. Developer Funcom invited MeinMMO to an event on the occasion of the Direct, where we specifically asked the developer about the release plan.
Dune: Awakening Release Date – What the Developers Say
Is there already a release date? Currently, no specific release date for Dune: Awakening is known. It can be assumed that the game will be released in 2024. However, there is currently no guarantee for this.
What do the developers say? MeinMMO was invited by Funcom to an event regarding the new gameplay. During this event, we were able to ask the developers some questions.
The game’s Creative Director Joel Bylos stated that the team wants to take all the necessary time: They want to develop the game they have set out to create. And if they need more time for that, then so be it.
But we also wanted to know specifically if they could say anything about the release plan – whether the game is supposed to be released in one or two years, for example. Natascha Röösli, the Senior PR Manager at Funcom, shared the following with us:
I mean, we are not talking about several years of waiting. But: This is the gaming industry. So let’s knock on wood.
As Joel [Bylos] mentioned: We have already had some betas, and they are running at full speed, and we are constantly adding new players. It really depends on the feedback we get from the players. If they are really satisfied with something we are currently testing, that means we can move it to the next development phase.
I mean, we now have a lot of players in the current beta that we just recently started. So we are expanding our tests, and so far it looks good.
