After the launch of the early access phase of Conan Exiles, there was one main topic: the penis slider. Therefore, it was only a matter of time before the equipment slider also had to be addressed in Dune: Awakening.
How detailed is the character editor of Dune: Awakening? Let’s first address the elephant trunk in the room: No, in Funcom’s new game there will not be a slider allowing you to adjust the size of your avatar’s genitalia.
In Conan Exiles, Funcom’s last survival hit, this has been possible for over seven years – and the flopping, drooping genitals have been discussed online extensively. Alternatively, you can also choose the more modest gameplay options without explicit nudity there.

Who brought up the topic of the penis slider? Christopher Livingston from PC Gamer had the opportunity to talk to the developers of the Dune MMO about such important topics during GDC 2024 in San Francisco.
The developers even explained afterwards why this customization option is missing:
Ah, so Dune is not as … sexy as Conan Exiles?! That’s not one of the most, I would say … pillars of the IP. So we want to focus more on the Dune aspects than on what we did in Conan Exiles.
Executive Producer Scott Junior
Livingston didn’t let up. He inquired whether they had ever at least considered the feature or if they had consulted the estate of Frank Herbert to get adjustable genitalia approved.
However, there was probably no quotable answer to this question. Let’s note: The topic of penises is not one in the Dune universe. Totally dumb or, given the setting, completely understandable? Feel free to share your opinion on equipment sliders in games in general and in Dune: Awakening in particular in the comments.
What is actually a really important topic in the new Funcom project is: No, you do not play a Fremen in Dune: Awakening – This is how the new survival MMO starts on Steam
