Shortly before the release of the DLC “Lost Harvest” and the 2nd chapter of Dune: Awakening, the developers at Funcom introduced some of the new features for the survival MMO. Included are: the new armor sets.
What are these armor sets? The 5 new armor sets from Dune: Awakening of the free update from September 9, 2025 each represent one of the archetypes available in the game. There is now a new outfit for Bene Gesserit, Trooper, Mentat, Swordmaster, and Planetologist.
What is special about these sets? The new armors not only visually match the associated class, but also provide stats and special effects that support the respective playstyle.
- The light chest piece and pants of the Swordmaster set from Ginaz, for example, offer a 2 percent reduction in cooldown for Swordmaster abilities.
- The gloves, shoes, and helmet of the Planetologists provide a 1 percent reduction in cooldown for Planetologist skills.
If you wear the complete set of chest piece, helmet, pants, shoes, and gloves, you can reduce the cooldown of the abilities of the associated class by 7 percent.

Where can I get these sets? According to the developers, the new armor sets now represent an additional reward when you have successfully completed all lessons or quests with the respective teacher and fully unlocked the respective skill tree. It seems there are no new class quests.
If you have been diligent since the launch and have completed all missions with all class teachers, you should find the armor sets in your inventory at the start of Chapter 2.
What extent do the new story contents offer?
What else have the developers revealed? On September 9, 2025, two new quest lines will come to the game: the continuation of the main story (via the free update) as well as the side quest revolving around a crashed collector (via the DLC “Lost Harvest”). The key takeaways from the meeting with Funcom:
- Both quest lines should keep you busy for 4 to 6 hours each – so a total of around 8 to 12 hours of quest content will be added to the game.
- The new story contents are expected to be staged similarly to the previous main story, i.e., with in-game sequences and fully voiced dialogues.
- The free quest line focuses on a series of murders, and you must find out who is behind them. The detective story will also affect the type of tasks. For example, there should be some stealth passages where you must not be detected and cannot use lethal violence.
- Anyone wanting to tackle the new chapter of the main story must have completed Chapter 1 of Dune: Awakening.
- The paid quest line has nothing to do with the main story of Dune: Awakening and instead opens a new side story, where you can earn primarily cosmetic rewards but also comparable strong alternatives to items already available. The developers emphasize that buyers of the DLC do not gain advantages in character strength.
- The start of the DLC quest line is aimed at characters who possess Tier 2 gear. The difficulty level will then gradually rise to Tier 4.
By the way, the latter is also intended for the 3 new test stations, for which you also need the new DLC. All of this will be complemented by new, dynamic events in the game world and fresh missions in the capitals (both part of the free update), which should further increase your playtime by a few hours.
How good is the new vehicle?
The new Treadwheel is part of the paid DLC and is available in 3 different variants: for Tier 4, 5, and 6. You will also have various modules available, such as scanners, boosters, an extra seat, or storage.
The developers describe the Treadwheel as an alternative to the sandbike. The new vehicle is slightly slower but can perform quick maneuvers. With the extra seat, it is possible to drive in one direction while the passenger can shoot at enemies in the opposite direction.
A new quality of life improvement from the free update that applies to all vehicles: You can now switch your seat via a shortcut.
