In Dune: Awakening you must drink regularly to stay alive. Early in the game, there are only a few ways to get water. We explain how to filter blood with a blood purifier to create water.
What is a blood purifier? The blood purifier is a crafting device in your base that allows you to filter blood. To operate it, you first need a base and power. Then, you can easily place the device using the building tool from the build menu. When you hold down the left mouse button, you will build the blood purifier at the previously selected location.

How to purify blood in the game
What is needed? To filter blood, you need not only the blood purifier in your base but also the appropriate tool to harvest blood. For this, you need to carry both the blood extractor and enough blood bags for storage. Both items can be cheaply crafted at a factory gate.
Once you have both items, you just need the blood. It comes from the enemies you find all over Arrakis. After you defeat them in combat, you can unpack the blood extractor and draw the blood from them.
- The better your blood extractor, the higher the yield.
- The better your blood bag, the more blood the item can hold.
With your full blood bags, you must then make your way back to your base. Once there, you empty the blood bags in the blood purifier’s menu, and the filtering begins. The filtering process may take some time, so it’s best to start it right when you return home from your adventure.
How do I get the water? The blood purifier slowly filters the water. You can drink directly from the device during the ongoing process. To do this, stand in front of it and hold down the action button (E).
If you want to take the water with you, you need another suitable container. In Dune: Awakening, there is the so-called literjon, which functions like a water bottle and can also be placed in the action bar for quick use.
