Anyone who gets banned on Twitch has to be careful not to appear in other streams. Otherwise, other streamers will also be punished. With this rule, streamer Hyphonix is currently struggling and has had to give up a large portion of friendship.
The Twitch streamer “Hyphonix” admits that he has made many mistakes. So many that he has now been banned from the livestreaming platform Twitch.TV. This has likely happened to him before, which is why the current ban is for 30 days. But it wouldn’t be so bad if he didn’t live with other streamers in the same house.
When his friends stream, he wasn’t allowed to be with them
Hyphonix lives with streamer friends Alfie and Black in a house in Los Angeles. They stream in the house almost around the clock, but because of his recent punishment, Hyphonix was not allowed to appear in any stream. It was even forbidden for his voice to be heard in other streams.
This rule is particularly difficult to enforce in the mentioned streaming house. While his roommates are streaming, he is not even allowed to ask them how they are doing or what their plans for the day are. First, they have to turn off the microphone.
How did this ban come about?
His recent ban is presumably due to him taking off his shirt after pouring tomato sauce on himself. He performed this action as a protest against the new Twitch rules that require a proper dress code for streams.
His ban is apparently stressing Hyphonix out. On Twitter, he shared his thoughts now and stated that this situation is bringing him down.
“It is so depressing that I can’t talk in my own house because I’m [banned on Twitch]. I have to pretend I am not here. Twitch, please let me talk to my roommates. I understand that I am banned for 30 days, but this is a terrible quality of life for me.”
Roommates have to turn off their webcams
In an interview with Kotaku, Hyphonix explained how difficult the situation in the house is. Every time he enters a room or walks past a streamer, they must first turn off their webcam and mute their microphone. If they fail to do so, they could even get in trouble – and he could receive a permanent ban.
Update: He is now allowed to appear in other streams again, but …
After Hyphonix’s issues with the rules became public, he spoke with Twitch. They now allow him to appear on camera with his roommates Alfierules and Black. However, he is not allowed to be the main content of the stream.
Crazy streams in the past
Hyphonix has gotten into this difficult situation because of his past streams. He often showcased crazy stunts with friends during his streams.
Chairs get smashed or body slams are performed on tables. For some viewers, the content of these streams has always been somewhat … questionable.
He describes himself as an “edgy” streamer, meaning someone who likes to push the limits. Regarding Twitch’s new behavior rules, he says he also wants to “just be a little silly.” But overly provocative streamers violate the new rules. Just like actions that involve self-harm.
Moving out of the house or to another streaming platform?
His fans suggest that he should find new hobbies outside. There, he wouldn’t have to whisper. Others say he should simply look for a new apartment, but Hyphonix sees the streamer house as a kind of family. Therefore, moving is out of the question.
“Should I be permanently banned on Twitch.TV, I will continue to stream on YouTube,” he explains. “But I would still live in the house because that streaming would then be more real life happening outside.”
