Hrafnkell Oskarsson was one of the original developers of the popular space MMORPG EVE Online. He is now working on the ambitious sci-fi MMORPG Dual Universe.
As the company Novaquark announces, they hired former EVE Online designer Hrafnkell Oskarsson to collaboratively implement the idea of a persistent science-fiction sandbox for the online game Dual Universe.
This is where the experience that Oskarsson brings comes into play. As one of the original developers of EVE Online, he can contribute a lot to create an exciting sandbox.

Similarities to EVE Online
Dual Universe places players in a vast universe where everyone can do what they want. Just like in EVE Online, the economy in the game is intended to be player-driven, and factions can form to take control of parts of the game world. Players who perform particularly well will go far, for example, by building particularly good spaceships that other players want and will buy for a lot of money.
EVE Developer Contributes to Dual Universe
Especially regarding the development of the sandbox and the player-driven economic system, Hrafnkell Oskarsson can contribute a lot to Dual Universe.
“Our MMO competitors tend to rely on simplified models to bring a few hundred, sometimes a few thousand players together in the same arena or instance. However, these are often neither persistent nor connected,” says Novaquark founder and CEO, Jean Christophe Baillie. “The content is created by the company, and the players consume it. We, however, intend to change this with our new proprietary technology by bringing millions of people into the same virtual world. This world can be modified by the players, and these changes are permanent. Thus, players create their own stories.”
Recently, even more testers have opened the doors to the pre-alpha of Dual Universe.
