What game are we talking about? Dread Delusion is a new RPG on Steam. Developed by the studio Lovely Hellspace, the game has been in Early Access since June 2022. However, the full release with version 1.0 is scheduled for May 14, 2024.
The game is inspired by Morrowind, and not only players who miss their old RPGs from the 2000s should take a look at Dread Delusion. Fans of The Elder Scrolls or Bloodborne are also expected to enjoy this new role-playing game.

What makes this game special? When watching the trailer, the first aspect that stands out, reminiscent of earlier RPGs, is the graphics. Of course, it doesn’t represent the latest and greatest or seem particularly exciting or overwhelming technically, but that was likely the developers’ goal.
Players shouldn’t be deterred by this graphics. Because Dread Delusion has impressed previous players mainly with its concept and unique atmosphere. And just when watching the trailer, one wonders what is happening in this world with a constantly red sky, a giant and ominous asteroid, and some really strange creatures.
You explore this open world with your character, which you can customize to your own play style, in first-person perspective. In the trailer, you can see how you can defend against enemy attacks with spells. With a bit of alchemy, you should also be able to transform rusty swords into a powerful, masterfully forged sword.
During your journey, you must find your way through the flying continents of the land and can even travel around in your own airship.
Players want more of the game finally
What do the players say? Dread Delusion has already been in Early Access for two years and has received 92% positive ratings since then. As previously mentioned, players particularly praise the consistent atmosphere of the game.
“The worst thing about this game is that there is no more of it,” writes a user in their review on Steam. However, with the full release, that could certainly change. Another user describes the game as an absolute fever dream, but with a positive review, it’s probably meant only in the best sense.
Another user summarizes their experience with Dread Delusion with the following words: “It feels like playing a modernized PS1 game, with Elder Scrolls mechanics.
