The streamer Guy “DrDisrespect” Beahm has been streaming on the platform YouTube for two years after his ban from Twitch. However, YouTube Gaming has been on a shopping spree in recent months, showering Twitch streamers with endless amounts of money to poach them: After Ludwig, Valkyrae, and TimTheTatman, they have now acquired Sykkuno. However, it seems that DrDisrespect is not too pleased about this.
What is DrDisrespect upset about? The Doctor seems to be “very dissatisfied with the overall situation” for quite some time now.
Actually, DrDisrespect complains about everything and everyone: About “poor audio in Fortnite”, about childish streamers like xQc, about stupid “MMORPGs” like WoW or the dumb referees in basketball who see nothing. He also thinks that the new Batman is totally overrated – he’s just mediocre.
Currently, DrDisrespect is upset about YouTube Gaming, his current main platform. He recently said on Twitter that he simply has to unfollow YouTube Gaming. They do not support “us” at all. So why should he support them? Hahaha. Such a false industry that he is in (via twitter).
DrDisrespect complains about “lack of support” from YouTube Gaming
Why does that annoy him so much? DrDisrespect does not currently mention a specific reason why he is so disappointed and annoyed with YouTube Gaming, but the reasons are rather obvious:
- DrDisrespect had signed a “multi-year exclusivity contract” for “several million US dollars” with Twitch in March 2020, which bound his livestreaming to the platform Twitch.
- However, he lost this contract when he was banned from Twitch in June 2020 for still unknown reasons.
- Although things are going well on YouTube, he only earns a “fifth” of what he made with all deals at Twitch.
Why is that so? Since the Twitch ban, DrDisrespect has been streaming on YouTube – but without an “exclusive contract.”
Although DrDisrespect is one of the largest and most successful streamers on YouTube and he also has a keen business sense. However, he apparently does not get much support from YouTube.
They practically “got him for free” after the ban since DrDisrespect had no alternative after his Twitch ban and the end of Mixer, where else he should go. On YouTube, he had already built up a large audience with his highlights from Twitch streams.
YouTube buys young streamers for a lot of money from Twitch – But DrDisrespect gets none of the cake
That seems to annoy him now: In recent times, there have been increasing reports that YouTube is paying extremely large sums for shooter streamers from Twitch whom DrDisrespect probably sees as “on his level or rather below.”
Reports are that YouTube offers money “that ensures a comfortable life” (DrLupo) or “that is completely insane” (Sykkuno).
These high sums were probably still okay when YouTube spent a fortune to get “TimTheTatman”, a friend of DrDisrespect who also plays shooters.
Recently, however, YouTube Gaming has started to increasingly pay young streamers handsomely who come more from the “Just Chatting” sector, like Ludwig or Sykkuno.
It is known that DrDisrespect is extremely ambitious and suffers from the Twitch ban. The fact that so many young streamers around him are now getting “completely crazy exclusive contracts” from YouTube while he stands there without a contract seems to bother the Doctor quite a bit. Even if he does not explicitly say so, he complains about a “false industry” that does nothing to “support” him.
It is known how much DrDisrespect is burdened by the whole situation regarding his Twitch ban, even if he often plays it down:
