The Battle Royale ancestor H1Z1 has been revamped and re-released as Z1. This even brought the Doc back to take a look. But in the end, he didn’t have much fun.
What is the relaunch of H1Z1 all about? H1Z1 is one of the pioneers of the battle royale genre, but had to suffer significantly against PUBG. The game has now been relaunched and is now called Z1. Many old features have also been reactivated, including old animations and the map from before.
DrDisrespect is not pleased
Here are the Doc’s experiences: The notorious streamer DrDisrespect had played a lot of H1Z1 before PUBG came out. So the prospect of nostalgia drew him back to the servers of the “new” Z1.
But his joy was short-lived, as the Doc got angry when he saw his ping at startup:
“You guys don’t get it, do you? I can’t do anything in H1 with an 86-millisecond connection to your damn East Coast servers because you are too broke to open a few servers on the West Coast. It makes me sick!”
This is how things continued: As expected, the experience for DrDisrespect was not much fun. His high ping and other issues really put him in a bad mood. This led to, among other things:
- Problems using vehicles
- Shotgun hits at close range that still did not kill the opponent
- Lag due to high ping

This is the Doc’s conclusion: After 40 minutes of Z1, the Doc was already fed up with the remake:
“For me, that’s it. It was a good dose of H1Z1, but man, that was really all I needed, and it was the last time I played H1Z1. Playing a AAA game and then returning to this one, I just can’t do it. Some can, and have fun, but I can’t do it anymore, man.”
It seems that after enjoying high-quality AAA games like Apex Legends or Black Ops 4, the Doc simply has no patience left for what he sees as inadequate battle royale games.
