The controversial Twitch streamer DrDisrespect is a shooter lover. He has nothing to do with the current hype around the MMORPG WoW Classic on Twitch. In two Twitch clips, he makes this more than clear. He mocks WoW Classic and fantasy MMORPGs in general. By now, WoW streamer Asmongold has also commented on this, who in turn criticizes PUBG.
This is the situation: Many of the Twitch streamers with the most followers actually play shooter or action games. However, nothing has happened for a while, Fortnite is currently struggling a bit too.
Therefore, some of the biggest streamers like Shroud, Summit1g, TimTheTatman, or DrLupo are currently turning to WoW Classic. A huge hype has emerged around the retro version of the MMORPG on Twitch.
It would make sense for the streamer DrDisrespect to at least try WoW Classic, as he constantly complains that he has nothing to play. But DrDisrespect makes it clear why he will absolutely not play WoW Classic.
Macho FPS Player vs. Fantasy MMORPG
This is Clip 1: In a Twitch clip, players fight against Anub’arak, the final boss of the “Wrath of the Lich King” instance Azjol Nerub – so that’s not even WoW Classic.
DrDisrespect imitates a WoW streamer and enthusiastically comments on what’s happening. He falls into what he considers nerd language:
“I think this is a skin you can peel. I think I need to collect 30,000 dragon furs and monkey claws, then I can breed the dragon that has an infinity stone, allowing it to travel through the universe.”
The clip ends as he shouts: “Take this crap off my computer, take this out of my life.”
Why DrDisrespect does not stream WoW Classic: In a second clip, he again explains his aversion. He will play PUBG because there is nothing else.
He then mentions again that in the “game for seventh graders WoW” you have to hit monkeys and lizards. He does not play stuff like that. He does not throw little fireballs at “sweet, purple dragons” to gain specific EXP, which he then uses to level up.
DrDisrespect says that in WoW Classic, 30,000 people do the same thing because they think it would be cool to live in 2001 again. He apparently finds nothing cool about that.

What’s behind it: DrDisrespect is a fictional character, the man behind it, Guy Beahm, used to be a map designer for Call of Duty.
What DrDisrespect presents here is the classic “shooter player attitude” against fantasy MMORPGs. The way fantasy MMORPGs are played does not have much to do with that – it is an exaggerated satire from the outside.
While other shooter players on Twitch like Shroud can switch, that seems impossible for DrDisrespect.
This is Asmongold’s counter
Update 30.8., 9:29 AM: The Twitch streamer and self-proclaimed WoW nerd, Asmongold, has responded to DrDisrespect’s clip.
He watches the video, shakes his head repeatedly, and does not understand why the Doctor does not want to have this fantasy MMORPG experience that he describes so satirically.
Furthermore, Asmongold criticizes PUBG, the Doctor’s game, and his statement that he does not want to live in 2001.
PUBG has such terrible servers that one can get shot through walls. That would have been better in Counter-Strike 1.6. In 2001, there would have been higher standards for shooters than today.
