The Twitch streamer DrDisrespect has critically engaged with the hype surrounding WoW Classic. He finds nothing appealing about the MMORPG. He believes that the “average gamer on the street” might feel the same way and turn away from Twitch. This could jeopardize the careers of all Twitch streamers.
What bothers DrDisrespect about WoW Classic? In short: He cannot connect with the game. He cannot see or understand what is happening exactly.

Many of them know WoW from the past and grew up with it.
However, Guy “DrDisrespect” Beahm is left out. He is 10 years older than most of his colleagues and has – at least in his role as a macho streamer – no connection to fantasy, RPG, or a mix of both.
In his own stream, he watches the Twitch stream of Asmongold as he is currently raiding in WoW Classic. DrDisrespect seems overwhelmed by what is happening before his eyes.
He points at interface elements in confusion and asks: “What the hell is going on here? What magical palace have I stepped into?” He repeatedly demands: “Asmon, you have to explain to me what is happening here.”
DrDisrespect then points at the hotbar: “What are all these buttons,” at the DPS meter: “What is that?” and at the party interface: “What is that above your head?”
It is clear: He cannot follow what is happening. The game is unreadable to him, the shooter fan, and is nothing but an “interface mishmash.”
WoW Classic Could End Our Careers
This is the doctor’s concern: DrDisrespect turns to the fans and says he has concerns.
He then impersonates a “little guy from the street” who discovers Twitch for the first time and is so put off by the unreadability of WoW Classic that he says: “You won’t get a cent from me. What a ridiculous industry is this? I’m out of here.”
WoW Classic Raid Interface Not Readable for “Normies”
This is what it is about: DrDisrespect satirically amplifies his criticism as is his style. Nevertheless, at its core, from his perspective, it is understandable.
He has no relationship with MMORPGs and is a pure shooter player. For him, the raid interface that Asmongold has built in WoW Classic must be truly off-putting.
Normally, shooter games (Fortnite, Apex Legends) dominate the top channels on Twitch, an action game (GTA Online) or a MOBA (LoL) are also represented. As an exception, something like Sea of Thieves occasionally rises high. All these games are “easy to read” – this is certainly not the case for a WoW raid interface.
For the moment, it seems to be going very well for the Twitch streamers who play WoW Classic.
