The streamer DrDisrespect was banned from Twitch a year ago and has since been living in exile on YouTube. However, during the launch of Halo Infinite, the Doctor turned it on: He achieved more viewer hours than the big shooter streamers on Twitch, shroud and Ninja. He was also online for almost 9 hours, apparently highly motivated.
This is the situation:
- For years, DrDisrespect was one of the biggest streamers on Twitch. He even signed a multi-year exclusive contract that guaranteed him millions of US dollars after two other Twitch stars, shroud and Ninja, left the platform.
- In the summer of 2020, DrDisrespect was banned from Twitch – the circumstances remain unclear to this day. A theory suggests that Twitch no longer wanted to pay his salary because shroud and Ninja had returned to Twitch.
- With the surprise launch of the shooter Halo Infinite on November 15th, DrDisrespect got his late revenge.
DrDisrespect streams for almost 9 hours at the Halo launch and wins
Who won the launch of Halo Infinite? On November 15th, without much warning, the multiplayer mode of Halo Infinite went online.
As reported by StreamHatchet, DrDisrespect was able to win the day with 225,000 viewed hours. He surpassed the biggest Twitch streamers like Lirik, shroud, Ninja, and Moistcritikal. He even achieved more than double the hours of the second-placed Lirik.
DrDisrespect has hype and, above all, endurance
What should be noted about the statistics? The statistic of “viewer hours” is somewhat misleading because the streamers streamed for different lengths:
- Lirik streamed Halo on November 15th from 6:45 PM to 9:45 PM – he had around 35,000 viewers on average.
- Shroud streamed Halo on November 15th relatively late and briefly: from 9:45 PM to 11:15 PM – during that time he had about 45,000 viewers on average.
- Ninja streamed Halo from 6:45 PM to 9:30 PM – he had about 23,000 viewers on average.
DrDisrespect’s stream lasted a total of 8 hours and 42 minutes (via playboard). The first 90 minutes, the Doc waited until it started and downloaded Halo Infinite. At peak around 7:50 PM, he reached 50,000 viewers – the number then slowly decreased and settled around 30,000.
However, since he lasted much longer than shroud, it can be said that DrDisrespect won the launch of Halo Infinite.
What does Doc think of Halo? He’s really into it. According to DrDisrespect, he is really excited to play Halo Infinite.
What’s going on behind this: Twitch is still by far the largest platform. However, DrDisrespect proves that it is possible to have a successful stream on YouTube that can compete with Twitch and even beat the platform.
That would not have been possible on Mixer.
