Through the Riftstones, you can travel to an interworld in Dragon’s Dogma 2 to find new pawns for your adventure. But did you know that you can specifically search for the companions that your friends have created? Furthermore, it might be worthwhile to hang out with a buddy’s pawn.
How do I summon pawns created by friends? Visit a Riftstone with your hero in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and use it to switch to the bridge between worlds. There, various pawns await to accompany you on your adventure.
Once you arrive in the interworld, interact with the Riftstone. Select “Search for a pawn.” After that, you have two options to find your friends’ pawns:
- Show available “Pawns from Friends”.
- Use the “Search by Pawn ID” option to enter the ID you received from your buddy.
The launch trailer of Dragon’s Dogma 2 in all its glory:
Where can I find the ID of my main pawn? Go to the pause menu and switch to the “Status” section. Select your main pawn there and go to the “Pawn” tab. Under Pawn ID, you will find the ID of your ward.
What if there is no ID displayed? Make sure you have enabled network features under “System”, “Options”, and “Network”. If that’s the case, resting in an inn or your home should display your ward’s ID.
Is there crossplay? While the menu states that you can find pawns from other platforms through the search, this is misleading. Unfortunately, there is no crossplay or cross-platform feature.
In other words: Steam players cannot play with pawns created on PlayStation 5 or Xbox – and vice versa.
With pawns, it’s a give-and-take
Why is it worth taking friends’ pawns? There are several reasons for this:
- You can specifically benefit from your friends’ high-level, experienced pawns. They cost nothing (!) and are sure to bring knowledge that will help you on your next trip. And they are also very capable in battle.
- You help your friend earn Pawn Badges.
- When you say goodbye to your friend’s pawn, you can give them items as a gift that they urgently need.
- All these advantages also apply in reverse when your buddies use your main pawn on their adventures.
