The role-playing game Dragon’s Dogma 2 is being enthusiastically discussed in reviews from the press. The PC version, in particular, receives dream ratings of 92% on Metacritic. The international review scores for PS5 with 86% and Xbox Series X with 87% are also impressive.
This is the situation:

“A triumph of a game”
These are the most positive reviews of Dragon’s Dogma 2:
Regarding the PC version, Eurogamer writes: “It is the rare case of a game that gets better the deeper you go into it. Not only because there is new stuff to see and do and the hero becomes more powerful, but also because you as a player grow with it.”
Particularly the excellent combat system and the simulated RPG party are praised. The review awards 5 out of 5 stars, which corresponds to a 100% rating.
The Sixth Axis calls Dragon’s Dogma 2 a “triumph of a game” that requires time and continuously draws you into a new cave or a random quest.
The reviewer gives the full 10 points and raves about a vibrant world where there is always something to discover.
Quest solutions have to be googled – frame rate sometimes dips
What do other reviews say? The German GameStar praises the combat system, the companions, and the high replay value, but criticizes the story and the technology. One must live with googling quest solutions or the fact that the frame rate dips occasionally, says the German gaming flagship.
In the test, they give 84% out of a possible 100%.
A slightly more positive view comes from the usually critical stronghold of the Anglo-Saxon gaming press, PC Gamer. Here, it is described as a “modern cult game.” The reviewer especially praises impressive battles but also criticizes some “very rough edges” of the game.
Compared to Dragon’s Dogma 1, the quests have more impact, the world is larger, and the battles are more refined. But essentially, it is “more Dragon’s Dogma,” which in the eyes of the reviewer is not a bad thing. He gives it 89%.
“For fans who want more Dragon’s Dogma”
Are there also negative reviews? PCGamesN ends up with only 70% and calls it an ambitious, yet flawed action-RPG. One must accept Dragon’s Dogma 2 as it is. The reviewer criticizes significant hardware issues, too many trash mobs, and limitations in the travel system.
Former GameStar author Sascha Penzhorn also seems not to find much to like in Dragon’s Dogma 2. For IGN Germany, he awards 70% and notes some outdated design, soulless companions, and generic side quests. But he also says: Those who simply want more Dragon’s Dogma will be happy with Part 2.
