In Dragon Ball there are not only the titular orbs on Earth but many different types. MeinMMO presents the different types and sorts them in a power ranking.
What are the Dragon Balls? The Dragon Balls are crystal spheres with stars that come in different variants. Once all Dragon Balls of a type are collected, a dragon can be summoned who grants wishes.
Each set was created by a Namekian. Their power is determined by the power level of their creator. What the creator cannot do, the dragon cannot grant as a wish.
In Dragon Ball Daima, entirely new Dragon Balls were introduced:
How was the ranking created? Some of you might have noticed in the headline that we only consider 5 types of the Dragon Balls. However, there are significantly more in the anime and video games. We have set some rules that limit our selection:
- The magic orbs appear in the main anime, excluding examples like the Dark Dragon Balls from Dragon Ball Heroes or the Ultimate Dragon Balls from Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi.
- The Dragon Balls are not prototypes (like the Omnificience Crystal) and not copies (like the Special Dragon Balls, which also summon Shenlong).
- The orbs from the Demon Realm in Dragon Ball Daima are still excluded because there is too little known about them.
Place 5: Black Star Dragon Balls

- Responsible Dragon: Ultimate Shenlong
The Black Star Dragon Balls were created by the Namekian who existed before the split of Kami and King Piccolo. They are actually one of the most powerful forms of Dragon Balls:
- They can kill people, which the earthly Dragon Balls cannot do.
- They do not turn to stone and can be used directly again when found.
However, the Black Star Dragon Balls come with possibly the greatest drawbacks overall. While the magic orbs can be reused directly, they scatter across the galaxy immediately after the wish. It can therefore take a while to find all the orbs again.
It gets worse: If the orbs are not back on the planet where the wish was fulfilled within a year, it will be destroyed. This high risk makes the Black Star Dragon Balls so dangerous for us that we banish them to 5th place.
Place 4: Earth Dragon Balls

- Responsible Dragon: Shenlong
At the beginning of the anime, the Earth Dragon Balls had the most limitations. They were created by Kami, the benevolent side of the original Namekian. Therefore, there were many rules that the wishing person had to remember:
- No love may be created.
- Until Dragon Ball GT, no wish could be repeated, i.e., no person could be revived multiple times.
- No opponents stronger than Kami can be killed.
- No person may be revived who died a natural death.
- In a mass resurrection, only the people who died within the last year are revived.
- Only one wish can be fulfilled.
After Kami was replaced by Dende, the Earth Dragon Balls became somewhat more powerful. They can fulfill three wishes. However, Shenlong only applies this rule to people he knows. He denied Gomah his remaining two wishes in Dragon Ball Daima.
One advantage of the Dragon Balls is that you only have to search for them on planet Earth. However, they turn to stone for a year, making them unusable for a long time. The many restrictions and the one-year limit place the Earth Dragon Balls in 4th place.
