After exactly one year of pause, the Manga of Dragon Ball Super will finally continue. The new mangaka Toyotarou shows with the new cover what he is capable of.
What can be seen on the cover of the new volume? The next volume of Dragon Ball Super, numbered 24, impressively shows how the story continues.
The image features Son Goku and his close companions in their strongest forms:
- Son Goku with his Ultra Instinct
- Vegeta with his Ultra Ego
- Son Gohan appears in his Beast form
- The Namekian is seen as Orange Piccolo
- Broly has become the Legendary Super Saiyan (LSSJ) with his green hair
The cover confirms for the first time that the LSSJ is finally part of the official story. Until now, he had only appeared in spin-offs that were non-canon.
How could it continue? Since all the currently strongest fighters from Earth are seen in their best form, a big battle might be hinted at, which pushes all the Saiyans and Namekians to their limits.
On the other hand, it could be a hint that a major training battle between the participants will take place in the chapters of the 24th volume. However, neither Ultra Ego Vegeta nor Orange Piccolo are involved here.

Initial content for the new manga is confirmed
What is already known about volume 24? The first chapters of volume 24 are still from the time when Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball, was alive. Here, Son Goku and Son Gohan engage in an exciting duel, where Goku’s son even defeats his father (via Dragon Ball Wiki).
Then, a one-shot continues, focusing on Trunks and Son Goten in their teenage years. They discover their passion for their idol and become superheroes themselves – or rather, cleaning heroes.
So volume 24 will not contain a completely new, larger story arc yet. If the time frames that existed before Toriyama’s death are maintained, the new arc could appear either in August or December 2025.
Why would Toriyama be proud? Toyotarou takes over from Toriyama and even completed his own manga to fully concentrate on Dragon Ball Super. Many users on X are excited about the image and are sure that his mentor would be proud of him.
It is particularly emotional that the manga continues just a few weeks after the first anniversary of Toriyama’s death. The mangaka passed away on March 1, 2024, and volume 24 will be released on April 4, 2025. This is, by the way, exactly 1 year after the release of volume 23.
