The saga merges the past and the future. It connects the events from the Red Ribbon Saga of Dragon Ball with the future of Future Trunks. Upon his appearance, every DB fan must have been shocked to hear that Trunks is Vegeta’s son.
Son Gohan also experiences a growth spurt here in terms of his powers for the first time. The saga prepares him to one day surpass his father.
Rank 2: Super Hero Saga

The Super Hero Saga is still so fresh that it just recently concluded with the last chapter of Dragon Ball Super. It is the last saga that Akira Toriyama left us before his passing. Especially the ending, where Piccolo, Son Goku, Son Gohan, and Pan fly away together, feels like a departure into a new era. Therefore, a bit of melancholy also plays a role in this ranking.
However, the saga itself shines mainly through the focus on Son Gohan and Piccolo. Through a training match, Son Goku realizes how strong his son has become. He no longer needs to worry that Son Gohan might not fulfill his role as the protector of the Earth.
The Super Hero Saga focuses on a gripping story and the development of characters. So far, the saga has only been seen as a movie in animated form, but with impressive CGI animation. Unfortunately, it may take a few more years before we see it in the anime.
Rank 1: Freezer Saga

The Freezer Saga is perfect in every way for us. The planet of the Namekians offers an exciting, new setting. Freezer as a new opponent not only appears threatening but also has understandable motives in his actions. He evolves into new forms during the battles, pushing Son Goku and his friends to their limits.
Additionally, this saga features numerous moments that have stayed in our memories. Whether it’s Son Goku’s first transformation into a Super Saiyan, Vegeta’s change of heart, or the final Genkidama, which had us raising our hands in front of the TV to support Son Goku.
Individual characters, like Krillin and Piccolo, also have their big moments. It’s no wonder that this saga landed on our top spot.
