Dragon Age: The Veilguard has a special upgrade system. How it works and how you can enhance your equipment is explained in this guide.

How does equipment work in the game? On your adventure, you will find various weapons, armors, and equipment items like rings with different stats. You can upgrade them, but initially, you cannot do so without limits.
In the lighthouse, the hub of the game, you will find the appropriate workshop. Simply step outside the building and you will find your destination. There, you can upgrade your equipment using materials. We will look at how this works in detail.
Upgrade the Workshop and Perform Upgrades
How to upgrade the workshop? To upgrade the workshop and unlock higher upgrade levels, you need to find the so-called “memories” in the game world. These are objects that you can find in many places. By solving the statue puzzle in the lighthouse, you will immediately receive 500 memory points. Sometimes they are also sold by merchants.
If you collect them and reach a certain amount, you can upgrade the workshop by one level, called “business rank,” during your next visit. This will also unlock the next upgrades for your equipment.
It is worthwhile to start collecting and buying memories from the beginning to quickly level up weapons and equipment.
Improve Equipment
How to improve equipment? Go to the workshop and select the item you want to upgrade from the menu. The cost will be displayed here. The required materials can be found everywhere in the game world. They are located in breakable crates, in chests, or sometimes just lying by the roadside.
A sword, like the strong warrior class wields, can be upgraded from level 0 to level 1. However, initially, you cannot perform upgrades without limits. Your equipment can only be upgraded to the extent permitted by the workshop. If it has a level of +1, you can upgrade an item there only up to +1.
Enchant Equipment
How to enchant equipment? Once you have unlocked the option, you can enchant your items at the workshop. This gives them bonuses like +10% weapon damage or +25% staggering.
It is important: You can only use an enchantment once. If you equip your main-hand weapon with 10% more weapon damage, you cannot do it for the off-hand weapon anymore. Instead, you can choose a different enchantment.
Increase Rarity
How to increase the rarity of an item? The rarity increases when you find or buy a duplicate of your weapon. With this feature, items that seem of little use at first glance can still become practical later on – because their stats improve accordingly and effects may also be added. Items have four rarity levels, from white
(normal) to orange
(legendary) according to the classic loot schema.
By the way, you will always find equipment that matches your current workshop level. If you increase the rarity of an item, its upgrade level also automatically increases. This way, you can save materials if you are short on cash.
