Warning, Spoilers! The following is about one of the first decisions you can make in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. So there are spoilers for a story part at the beginning of the game. If you want to start the action-RPG completely free, you should stop reading here.
Which decision is it about? In the Arlathan Forest, the quest starts that sends you to D’Meta’s Crossing. You will find the village completely overrun by corruption. All the inhabitants are infected, and in the middle, a boss awaits you.
Once you defeat this boss and speak with the Veilstriders, you will find the mayor at the edge of the settlement. He is trapped in corruption and speaks with you. Ultimately, you have the choice: Do you save his life or leave him to death by corruption?
To save the mayor or not – Here are the consequences
Leaving the mayor in corruption: If you let the mayor die, the approval of the companions Harding and Bellara increases. Neve, on the other hand, disapproves of the decision.
Later in the game, you will also encounter the corpse of the mayor as an interim boss during the quest A Growing Corruption
. He is completely taken over by corruption and no longer knows who he is.
Saving the mayor: If you save the mayor, Neve will approve of it, while Harding and Bellara will be against it.
Otherwise, nothing happens: The mayor survives. Accordingly, he is not corrupted and does not appear as an interim boss. The quest A Growing Corruption
will not be unlocked for you.
The decision basically only determines whether the mayor will become a problem for you later. If you want to farm experience points, it is good to unlock the fight and accordingly leave the mayor in corruption.
