Tyranny
- Platforms: PC, macOS, Linux
- Price: 29.99 Euro
- Release Date: November 10, 2016
After the developers from Obsidian Entertainment (Fallout: New Vegas) successfully crowdfunded an old-school role-playing game in the spirit of Baldur’s Gate or Planescape: Torment in 2015 with Pillars of Eternity, the little evil twin followed in November 2016.
In the classic party role-playing game Tyranny, you step into the role of a Fatebinder, who, like a kind of fantasy Judge Dredd, combines the judiciary and executive and is tasked by the godlike ruler Kyros with destroying all oath-breakers and bringing the competing armies of the ultimate villain into line.
Here you can see the launch trailer for Tyranny:
In short: In Tyranny, you stand on the side of evil and are constantly faced with decisions that involve life and death. And if an ally stands in your way, you might as well stab him in the back with a literal dagger.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
- Platforms: PC, macOS, Xbox, iOS, Android, Nintendo Switch
- Price: 9.75 Euro
- Release Date: September 12, 2004
Jedi and Sith, light and dark sides of the Force. The Star Wars universe has always maintained a fairy-tale-like distinction between good and evil. As the main character of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, however, both are within you, thanks to memory loss. You start with a neutral inclination. Through dialogues and decisions, you determine how it continues from there.
Whether the remake of Star Wars: KOTOR will come is unclear – but there is a trailer:
Which side will you choose? Will you risk getting into conflicts with your companions and even turning them into bitter enemies? Because that’s exactly what happens if you act aggressively and selfishly. As a reward, offensive powers await you that boring Jedi can’t use, and an alternative ending. If you’ve always wanted to rise as a Sith Lord, you can do it here.
However, the story and the impact of an iconic twist from Star Wars: KOTOR work better if you stay on the light side of the Force and feed the good within you. Of course, in the sequel, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, you also have the option to wander on both sides of the Force.
