The controversial former Twitch streamer Dr Disrespect was surprisingly banned in 2020, and the reasons remain unclear. However, it seems that the streamer now knows about the circumstances and does not want to accept this. In a recent stream, he stated that he is suing Twitch hard and that a lot of money is at stake.
What did the Doc say? In a stream on YouTube, the rowdy streamer and character Dr Disrespect recently shared some interesting new facts about his permanent ban on Twitch in 2020. The reasons are still officially unknown, but in the stream, the Doc indicated that he is indeed aware of the reasons, and has been for months.
This is also the reason why they are now suing Twitch “damn hard”. What exactly the lawsuit entails and how far the proceedings have come, or whether it is just an announcement of legal action, the Doc has not yet stated.
The rowdy macho with the porn mustache, mirrored sunglasses, and mullet is actually named Guy Beahm and used to be a community manager and map designer for Call of Duty. In his role as the “Doc”, he plays a toxic macho who acts like a bully and serves as a parody of gamer clichés. Due to his controversial nature he has frequently been in trouble.
Doc’s Twitch ban has likely caused a lot of damage
Why does he want to sue Twitch? The exact reasons for the lawsuit, as well as the reasons for the Twitch ban, the Doc does not want to reveal yet. However, he hints that it involves claims for damages.
Dr Disrespect was incredibly successful on Twitch. He had secured the coveted Twitch partner status for several years and was once considered the “face of Twitch”. He had a total of 4.45 million followers and on average over 21,000 people watched him.
Thus, a significant amount of money from subscriptions and donations had accumulated, which of course first disappeared when he was suddenly banned from the platform. Meanwhile, the Doc himself stated that his earnings have been reduced to a quarter.

Although the Doc quickly found a new home on YouTube, he no longer has an exclusive contract there. Therefore, the ban has likely caused him significant financial damage, and his reputation in the business may have suffered. After all, it remains officially unclear to this day what exactly happened back then.
What happened back then? In June 2020, Dr Disrespect was permanently banned from Twitch – surprisingly for outsiders. Initially, it was thought to be a PR stunt, and even the Doc’s own statements were not particularly helpful.
Later, a rather plausible rumor emerged that basically stated that the Doc had tried to fool Twitch when the Twitch stars Ninja and shroud switched to the new streaming service Mixer, by inventing an enticing offer from Mixer.
However, since Mixer went under shortly thereafter, Twitch supposedly caught wind of the deceitful attempt quite quickly, and this attempt at deception is rumored to be the reason why they no longer wanted to work with the Doc. The whole story surrounding the rumor about the Doc’s ban can be read here.
If the Doc’s lawsuit against Twitch is really heard, we might finally learn what really happened back then.
