The Twitch streamer Dr. Disrespect returned to the streaming platform Twitch on July 8 after a ban. However, those expecting an earthquake were disappointed. The stream was a success for Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm, but the big rush did not happen. There was, however, a dig at Ninja.
That was the expectation: The last time Dr Disrespect was away from Twitch for an extended period, he was able to celebrate a massive return that shook Twitch. At that time, he took a break because he was “unfaithful” to his wife.
When he returned to Twitch after a few months away in February 2018, he hit 390,000 viewers at peak. Even Twitch went down for about 10 minutes. Dr Disrespect was the hottest streamer on the platform in 2017, and everything he did made significant waves.
People thought: 2019 would see a similarly gigantic return, with tens of thousands of viewers, new records, and Twitch outages. After all, the E3 controversy surrounding the streamer was big in the media and stretched over weeks.
However, this expectation was disappointed.
This is how it really was: As the site Kotaku reports, the first stream after the ban was a success for Dr Disrespect, but not an insane, earth-shattering experience.
The peak number of viewers was around 80,000 while the intro was running, and during the stream it dropped to 40,000. This is higher than the number of viewers the Doctor had before the Twitch ban, but significantly lower than the records from 2018.
Dr Disrespect received numerous donations that went as high as $500. The ban does not seem to have harmed him at all.

The Doctor played PUBG and shared some personal stories. He mentioned that Twitch rejected his new emote. He wanted to immortalize the famous “Doc looks over the toilet” image.
30 Minutes on Stream and More Subs than Ninja
This is the dig the Doctor made: He said live that he had been back on Twitch for just 30 minutes and already had more subs than Ninja.
He also let out quite a crazy laugh. Afterwards, he had to calm the chat down so they wouldn’t flame Ninja.
Tyler “Ninja” Blevins has the most followers on the platform with 14 million and often serves as a target for Dr Disrespect’s jokes.
The “subs” are another important currency on Twitch alongside viewer numbers. These are the “hardcore fans” who financially support a streamer by distributing such subscriptions.
After all, a subscription gives the streamer about $3 a month. That is the “steady” income.
Ninja took the dig well. He laughed and said it was not entirely fair since he had hardly done anything on Twitch in the last weeks.
For the future, Dr Disrespect announced more IRL streams. For the moment, he is just happy to be back on Twitch.
