The streamer Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm has now explained in an interview that he will not return to Twitch after his ban in June. Instead, he is considering suing the platform.
Who is speaking? The streamer Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm is speaking in an interview with PC Gamer.
Dr Disrespect is a character whose channel on Twitch has 4,450,718 followers. In March 2020, he signed a exclusive contract worth several million US dollars with Twitch. He himself saw himself as “the face of Twitch.”
Dr Disrespect was banned from Twitch at the end of June, apparently permanently. The reasons for his ban remain unclear: However, there is plenty of speculation, ranging from a contract termination by Twitch to the theory that Dr Disrespect is involved in a crime outside of streaming.
Now Dr Disrespect speaks for the first time after 3 weeks of silence.
Will the Doctor return? Yes, he will, but not on Twitch. Dr Disrespect says that at the moment, they are planning how the return of the character could look. However, he is not interested in an exclusive contract.
Beahm wants to be where the fans want him.
We are exploring our options and honestly, I can’t wait to slip back into the character soon. We have a lot to do.
Dr Disrespect
As options he lists:
- big options like YouTube or Facebook
- or the option to stream independently on his own website
It is important to him that the community and his Champions Club follow him so he can take the character Dr Disrespect to the next level, whether in streaming or outside of it.
So, it’s like going to work every day and then the door is closed
This is why the Doctor was silent for so long: The streamer says he was in “total shock” after his Twitch ban. It was like going to work every day and then suddenly the door is closed.
He learned about his ban during his friend’s stream. Suddenly he could no longer use certain features, social media was going crazy, and his team called him. There was then a “quick email” and that was it.
This is how things went at the beginning. And from then on you have to digest it. But you get no answers. That was just what I had. I didn’t know what I could say. We sent out a tweet with our statement, and that was it.
Dr Disrespect
Twitch did not provide a reason for the ban
What now with Twitch? Dr Disrespect says Twitch did not inform him why he was banned. For legal reasons, he must also be careful with what he says.
However, he can say that he will not return to Twitch: “That’s it.”
At the moment, they are considering taking legal action against Twitch.
This is what he says about his last moments on stream: After Dr Disrespect was banned, observers noticed that he behaved strangely in his last moments on air.
According to Dr Disrespect, there were other reasons for it. He had been contemplating the state of the world: the coronavirus, the protests surrounding Black Lives Matter.
It was just a feeling, man. At that moment I was going through this in my head and thought: Can we somehow stop this trend of 2020? I was just being honest on stream. That’s basically the whole context.
Dr Disrespect
Dr Disrespect did not want to comment on the various speculations about him. He says his fans are important to him, and that’s what he wants to focus on, delivering great entertaining content again.
This is what it’s about: The interview with Dr Disrespect was clearly intended as a sign to the millions of fans who have been left in the dark for 3 weeks. We did not receive insights into the mystery of the ban.
It seems everyone is silent for legal reasons.
Dr Disrespect does not seem to be seeking an exclusive contract with Facebook or YouTube. They also do not appear to want to offer him one, as insider Rod “Slasher” Breslau revealed two days ago. According to his sources at YouTube and Facebook, there are no negotiations with Dr Disrespect, everything is quiet on that front.
The logical option for Dr Disrespect would then be to switch to YouTube, where 1.67 million subscribers are already waiting for him. There he could possibly meet his old rival Tyler “Ninja” Blevins.
Even after this interview, it is still unclear why Dr Disrespect was banned. We now know, however, that he will return, albeit not on Twitch. Just a few days ago, an insider extensively dealt with the ban of Dr Disrespect:
