The streamer Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm is one of the top 10 streamers on Twitch. He has an exclusive contract and is considered a star of the platform. Nevertheless, his channel was surprisingly banned. Now he is speaking out about his ban. We also present 4 theories as to why Dr Disrespect was banned by Twitch.
This is what Dr Disrespect says about his ban:
Champions Club,
Twitch did not inform me about the specific reason behind their decision. A firm handshake to everyone for their support during this difficult time.
Dr Disrespect
What is remarkable about the statement: Two things stand out:
- On the one hand, it took more than 30 hours for this statement from Dr Disrespect to come out at all. Usually, it is expected that a streamer immediately informs their fans about what is happening with their channel when they get banned
- On the other hand, Dr Disrespect says Twitch did not communicate the “specific reason.” This probably means that Twitch gave him – as is usual – a higher-level reason. Usually, streamers who are banned post the ban message from Twitch, which at least states this general reason. In this case, Dr Disrespect does not do that
Did Dr Disrespect know he was getting banned? There are at least hints that suggest so.
Dr Disrespect was probably not caught off guard by the ban. As some have noted, the end of Dr Disrespect’s last stream was conspicuous. Towards the end of the stream, he seemed to read a message on his phone that somehow impressed him and affected his mood.
He then ended the stream a few minutes later on a strange note, mentioning that one must “get through it” and that these are “strange times”.
This could have been understood to mean that he might have read the latest corona news, but after the ban, his behavior seems different.
4 Theories about Dr Disrespect’s Twitch Ban
What rumors and theories exist about the ban? No one knows for sure at the moment why Dr Disrespect was banned from Twitch. At least no one who wants to speak publicly about it. There are some very dark possible reasons and others that are rather harmless.
PR Stunt: There is a theory that Dr Disrespect was not really banned for an offense, but as a kind of PR stunt. Because Dr Disrespect is planning a TV show. If Twitch is playing along, his ban could be a staged PR coup to generate maximum attention. Just like Fortnite did when they took the game offline for a few days.
That would be quite a piece. Twitch could lose some of its credibility with that.

Business Decision: Another very wild rumor comes from 4chan. It states that Dr Disrespect teamed up with shroud and Ninja to build a new streaming platform for Spotify. Ninja and shroud are free after the end of Mixer. Dr Disrespect then wanted to poach streamers, and Twitch found out and reacted.
This theory is currently being related to the new streaming service “Brime”.
That sounds pretty far-fetched. Dr Disrespect recently signed a big contract with Twitch.

Serious Offense: The dark theory is that Dr Disrespect did something “so bad” that no one wants to talk publicly about it and that the ban occurred in the context of the current discussion about sexual harassment. Something may have been communicated to Twitch “in the last few days” that left them no choice.
That would be very serious. This theory is supported by a tweet from streamer Shannon “ShannonZkiller” Planete, which was later deleted.

Past Sins: Some also suspect that Twitch is now cracking down due to “past sins.” For example, Dr Disrespect once streamed from a bathroom at E3 2019. The under pressure Twitch CEO, Emmet Shear, may have then set an example.
It seems rather unlikely that Twitch wants to make an example out of Dr Disrespect right now.
At the moment, it remains completely unclear what exactly happened.
This is how Twitch figures respond: Half of the streamer elite has now commented on the incident.
- Tim The Tatman “hopes for the best.”
- xQc speaks of the “GOD MODE” – whatever that means.
- Streamers like Cohh Carnage or Lirik simply do not understand what is going on. Cohh Carnage says they must tell him the reason. That would be crazy.
IS THIS LITERALLY COCK AND BALLS TORTURE HOLY SHIT
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHATS GOING ON

- The WoW streamer Asmongold talks about “torture.” He really wants to know what is going on.
Asmongold is probably not alone.
