In Summer 2020, Twitch permanently banned streamer Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm. Since then, there has been a public and detail-lacking dispute between the streamer and the streaming platform. In the meantime, Dr Disrespect streams on YouTube and claims: Thanks to the Twitch ban, he is intentionally ignored by major publishers like EA, for the release of Battlefield 2042.
Who is Dr Disrespect? Until June 2020, Dr Disrespect was one of the most popular streamers on Twitch. As a former developer for Call of Duty, he primarily plays shooters as a streamer.
“Dr Disrespect” is not just a name: The ‘Doc’ is a character full of personality, played by Guy Beahm, whom he almost never leaves. Iconic are the bright red glasses, the large vest, the thick mustache, a huge ego, and a short fuse.
In June 2020, this act suddenly turned into a theater: Dr Disrespect was banned by Twitch – apparently permanently. To this day, there has been no explanation for the ban from either side.
Since then, Dr Disrespect has been streaming on YouTube, where he claims to earn about a quarter of what he made on Twitch. Now the streamer also claims that this ban has affected his status in the gaming industry as a whole.
“It’s official: I’m on an EA ban list.”
What accusations does the streamer make? In a stream on YouTube, Dr Disrespect not only took shots at Twitch again in front of his audience. He also directly attacked major publishers in the industry, notably Activision and EA.
After Dr Disrespect was not invited to events for the release of Battlefield 2042, the streamer expressed anger and disappointment. He claims that EA has him on an unofficial ban list. This is responsible for his absence from the events:
It’s official, Champs: I’m on an EA ban list. I mean, that already tells you… Since the greasy ban of the purple snake, we have been harmed behind the scenes in so many ways, Champs. Not just the original contract [with Twitch].
The ban from the “purple snake,” as the streamer refers to Twitch due to its logo color, is thus “crazy defamation” that has harmed him “in so many ways.” Among other things, it has destroyed his relationships with EA, which is why he was also unable to participate in the events for Battlefield 2042.
“EA, don’t be so pathetic.”
What are the backgrounds? In the past, Dr Disrespect was still a central part of the releases of the biggest shooter games on the market. Since the Twitch ban, he has had to watch from the outside.
Have you noticed that… I mean, there’s a reason why Activision doesn’t do a Call of Duty partner code or why we don’t work or have worked directly with Call of Duty. […] Everything we did with EA, the connections, the relationships we built over the years…
The streamer is particularly disappointed about the release of Battlefield 2042 in early access. His clearest words are directed at EA in front of his YouTube audience: “EA, don’t be so pathetic and scared to death, holy s**t. It’s embarrassing.”
The Doc is talking about a “shadow ban.” This is a ban that the affected person cannot see. Banned users are blocked,
Neither Twitch, Activision, nor EA have responded to these statements so far. Whether his relationship with these giants will improve, especially after these statements, remains to be seen.

Twitch bans one of its biggest stars – seemingly without reason
What happened? In Summer 2020, “The Doc” suddenly disappeared from Twitch. His fans have been wondering since then why he is no longer allowed to stream on the major platform, as there has never been any clarification. He himself says: “I can’t talk about it, but […] I know why. I’ve known the reason for months and let me just say this: There’s a reason why we’re suing the hell out of them” (via comicbook.com). Since August 2021, Dr Disrespect has been planning legal action against Twitch.
Even 1.5 years after the Twitch ban, there is still no public explanation as to why these measures were taken against the ‘Doc’. However, there have been numerous theories and vague hints:
- Dr Disrespect finally says something about his Twitch ban while thousands speculate
- This is the best theory as to why Dr Disrespect was banned from Twitch
- Dr Disrespect hints at why he was really banned from Twitch
The current ban was not Dr Disrespect’s first Twitch ban that made rounds. Already a year prior, in June 2019, the streamer was banned: He was streaming from a public restroom at E3.
The difference: After serving that sentence, Dr Disrespect was allowed to stream again on Twitch. It seems he has given up hope that this will repeat in the current situation.
