In the new Steam hit Dota Underlords, there is a combo that is already feared. A mix of the heroes Arc Warden and Crystal Maiden along with the item “Refresher Orb” causes a nasty attack from the clones and deals massive damage. We will show you how the combo works.
What kind of combo is this? It is a combo in Dota Underlords consisting of
- the Tier-3 hero “Arc Warden” (Plasmawächter)
- the item “Refresher Orb” (Kugel der Erneuerung)
- one or more heroines “Crystal Maiden”, who generates mana for all allied units thanks to an aura.
The goal is for the Arc Warden to summon his Tempest Double (a clone) as quickly as possible.
Due to certain stacking effects and design decisions, the combination is quite nasty.
Because this combo creates a snowball effect in Dota Underlords. It takes a while for the Arc Warden to gather enough mana to call a clone for the first time. But then it escalates quickly.
The clones summon more clones, and soon the entire battlefield is covered with clones.
Combo with Shock Effect that Really Hurts
What’s nasty about the combo: On the one hand, it’s a shock effect when it hits and is spectacular. Once the Arc Warden gets rolling, the match is almost won for the mage.
What’s really nasty is that every “clone” counts as a hero – therefore, it also counts towards the damage tally at the end. Because every hero of the victor that remains standing deals damage to the opponent.
This can lead to damage figures of 35 or even up to 70 with additional effects. Thus, a seemingly secure victor can still lose clearly and be eliminated in a round.
Arc Warden Strong Against Slow Combos
Is the combination omnipotent? No, it is not. However, it is very effective against the “Warrior Combo”, which according to the tier list is the strongest alliance in Dota Underlords.
Because there are no assassins to attack and eliminate the Arc Warden. If he has time to summon his clones, then it gets nasty.
Whoever wants to win against the Arc Warden will likely have to kill him before he has full mana for the first time.
Any setup that takes time to really unfold is vulnerable to the Arc Warden combo. On reddit, it is only known as “Arc Warden Refresher”.
In Dota Underlords, it is therefore important to see if any of the opponents are using such a strategy and to respond accordingly.
At the moment, this is at least the most spectacular combo in Dota Underlords. If it works, it is really nasty. It is highly possible that Valve will limit it with future patches.
Is Dota Underlords really a Steam hit? Yes, at least for the moment. On the first day, the game reached over 160,000 simultaneous users. Since then, the peak has risen to 200,000.
Whether this free-to-play game will stay at the top in the long term is still uncertain. But Valve has big plans to develop the Auto Chess further.
