At the Bethesda E3 press conference, the expected Doom DLC has now been confirmed!
We have already reported on an upcoming DLC for Doom, which has now been officially confirmed at the Bethesda E3 2016 press conference. The DLC is called “Unto the Evil” and is expected to be available starting next month. The paid DLC will include, among other things, 3 additional multiplayer maps and new armor sets.
Alongside the DLC “Unto the Evil“, free content is also on the way
The “Unto the Evil” DLC offers among other things 3 new multiplayer maps, a playable demon named “Harvester”, a new weapon, and new armor. However, even without purchasing the DLC, Doom players will receive new content. The price of “Unto the Evil” is still unclear – the Season Pass on Steam costs 39.99€.
The free content, which is also planned for July, looks promising as well. For the multiplayer mode, there will be 2 new game modes that should provide more variety. “Exodus” is a unique Doom mode of Capture the Flag, with just one flag. Additionally, a “Capture and Hold” mode with multiple zones called “Sector” will be introduced. Later in the summer, 3 Free-For-All modes (including Classic Deathmatch) will be incorporated into the game, which every player can play on all previous and future maps.
In the trailer, many updates and improvements for the SnapMap editor were also announced, which are intended to ensure that there is constantly new gameplay. This includes new objects, weapons, and items. The weapon wheel will also be available in this mode. By the way, Virtual Reality with “HTC Vive” support was announced for Doom and future Bethesda projects.
Free demo for a limited time!
Those who have not yet tried Doom can now, during the E3, play the first level of the campaign for free. This free demo is available for PlayStation 4 in the PlayStation Store, for the Xbox One in the Xbox Live Store, and for PC via Steam – simply search for “Doom Demo” in the respective store. This offer is limited and is valid only for the duration of the E3 week.
